Yeah, I found out that one and the porphiria (I know that is spelled wrong dammit) when I was doing a research project on Vampires a while back. Facinating really... I ended up giving a lecture to my 10th grade history class on Vlad, since his name came up during our discussion of the Ottoman Empire.
Oh yeah, speaking of him: - Vlad Dracula was also known as Vlad Tempes or Vlad the Impaler. His father was Vlad Dracul. - Dracula, in the Romanian tongue of that time, had two meanings: "Son of the Dragon" or "Son of the Devil". - Vlad Dracul got the name Dracul for belonging to (I forget exact name) the Order of the Dragon, which was a group of nobles pledged to fight the Turks that were trying to invade. |

I know:
- A "mosquito eater" is actually called a Crane Fly and does not eat mosquitos. - Dracula was based on two real life people (Prince Vlad Dracula of Wallachia, Romania and Countess Elizabeth Bathory of Hungary) - "Boo" actually scares people - Vampire myth largely came from a disease called Porphiria (sp?) |

that someone else might not know?
- I found out that the mouth of the statue of liberty is 3 feet wide. - A female kangaroo is called a Flyer. - The average speed of a house fly is 4.5 miles an hour. - You share your birthday with around 9 million people all over the world. ... and that's all I have so far |
