Grammar? Yeah, I tend to struggle with this quite a few times. English was my second language. I started it when I was 4 years old (when I came to America) and now, my accent still tends to screw me up. Sometimes my friends look at me weird for saying something that I thought sounded perfectly fine. But yeah, I usually try to counter that with grammar online. As many know, I'm one of the very very few people who actually types in complete and full sentences online, complete with punctuations and such.

Erm...right. But I still get typos here and there.

Yeah Not-Not-Really-DarkSlaya!? although I remember you already saying that somewhere else, truthfully I wouldn't have ever guessed, your posts and grammer and completely fine.

And it makes sense Pockets. But I'm actually kind of the opposite, I struggle in English sometimes with writing skills and special things like that.

The good thing is I can type extremely fast ... so I usually end up with a page or more for a paper that the class might be typing up, so I guess it makes me look good. Maybe ...

The reason that I try to type correctly as far as punctuation and grammar and spelling goes isn't so much to lok good ro to seem more mature or anything. That's just the way I am. I'm a writer and a reader. I've read more books than I can keep count of and I write a lot just because I have story ideas and I like to write and it's something that I am good at.

I actually don't know the rules of writing really. Like conjugation or split infinitives or other stuff that I've never heard of. I don't know what any of that stuff means. But because I've spent os many years reading books by credited authors over and over and over that simply because I don't know the rules doesn't mean that I don't know what it should look like.

If that makes any sense whatsoever.

English...ewwww. (Okay, that was a joke)

Really, it's not that hard (seeing as it's not my main spoken language). I don't think most people would know that I do not speak english alot if I didn't tell.

But, as you all can see, I try my best at making "grammaticaly correct" sentences and always use proper punctuation.

Because it feels cleaner, in my opinion.

Yeah, I somewhat learned my mistake from Acmlm's when I was permabanned there ... (Yes folks, I have been permanently banned from Acmlm's before, we all make mistakes ).

But I think I just kind of taught myself over time.

Seriously ... you should see my old posts about me raging agains't and flaming DBZ ... man, I was horrible.

I'm seriously not going to post a link or quote anything, so just imagine me ... with bad grammer, flaming and saying things I would never consider to say now, and overall sounding like a 4 year old having a fit.

Yeah.

People can really change in 2 years.

Yeah, your still pretty darn active. "Not post as much". Psssh.

When I first started out at Ace's, I made the top poster on the DPR thing almost all the time when I joined. But half my posts were just complete crap. Well, when the staff made their triumphant return, I got temp-banned. Then I smarted up. And now look where I am. I am no longer a spam monster.

Truthfully, if you stick around and post a lot on messageboards, your grammer, typing, and English skills will more than likely increase. (Kind of common sense I guess )

So keep posting!

But just put thought into your posts, and take your time typing them up. I used to be a big time poster on older boards before I started up my own, but most of my posts were maybe 2 sentences max, and never really had any real impact on the subject.

But now, I don't post nearly as much as I used too ... I'd still say I'm quite active with posting here, but I take a lot more time into my posts and read over them carefully before submitting them instead of just writing up what's on my mind instantly and posting it.

Hopefully, some of that made relavent sense.

I type with mostly correct grammar because... I dunno. I guess I don't like making an ass of myself. I actually have a hard time NOT using good grammar and spelling. Just a habit I've gotten into.

But as long as I can understand what the person's saying, I don't care. Some people, however, happen to make "that one mistake" that screws up the meaning of their entire paragraph. =/

And you have improved a lot Chris, I must say.

Me, well even though I am the self-proclaimed Queen of the Typos, I do my best to catch myself when I make posts, I will even edit the post each time I find a typo there... it just irks me. I also notice that I do use ellipses ("...") a lot, but I usally do that to indicate a pause in my speaking... I guess to make it seem more like you are listening to me rather than reading my words. But yeah, good grammar and punctuation are indeed signs of maturity and it is becomming ever more apparent that this nation, and the world really, is becomming more and more immature with every new generation.

If you all knew me from the day I joined at Acmlm's and of course from the old vizzed board, you'd know that I had problems with punctuation. I'd always say "Dont, cant, didnt," ect. You know what I mean. I use to always be poor in grammar. But now, I've improved a lot more. I write stories day after day, and work hard on grammar because it's the sign of maturity (as people have already stated).

Yes. People do really use "..." a lot. But that's not a bad thing in a way. It gives a feeling of how someone is saying somthing. You know, The Polit? I use that a lot at times. It really doesn't matter to me of where you stand in grammar. People have their place. As long as they're trying to improve, I'm fine with them. There are some though that have poor grammar and speak the way they speak on purpose though.

I...I like grammar a lot, and like speaking the way I speak. I like to be as sharp as I can when talking to anyone. Somtimes though I make mistakes, mainly when making some long post because they're normally important. It's been a goal for me to improve a lot on grammar. And of course, I've made my way, and proud of it.

The literary, grammatical, and spelling state of this country is going to hell in a handbasket. People who were forcibly brought up having to learn this stuff, with little room to screw it up, are dropping like flies, while those growing up now completely disregard it and end up looking like idiots.

ohhh, boyoyboy! I can't do that. I have this problem with my computor see. Its called its an ME computor. Nuff Said. If not, just look up ultra-fast in a dictionary and find the antonyms for it. My cmputor can't even run two programs at once without drastically slowing down.

Bishop-Luc and anyone else who struggles with grammar, once you have typed up your post, before submitting it, copy your text, go to a word doc and paste it, then check your spelling with the spell check and you will be amazed. I do it quite a lot. I am not the best at spelling, but it seriously doesn't take me long to put it in a word doc and to correct the spelling mistakes.

Unfortunaly, we are on the net and grammar and punctuation is a "big" thing. People will respect you more if they are able to read your posts.

So, I wouldn't say it's a sign of maturity; I can be very immature at times, and yet I take it upon myself to study grammar and always be as correct as possible...

And please improve the grammar in your messages, Bishop-Luc; at this point, I've just stopped reading them.

And I have to agree. In the past, I remembered seeing some paragraphs that were entirely one sentence by some people, and it honestly just made me not want to read the post at all.

I like to type "the correct way" mainly because it shows how intellegent (SP?) I am.

Probably the biggest issue on this message board in grammar is the overuse of "..." in some peoples posts. Me, I think I have a pretty good vocabulary, I just suffer from a case of typos.
