Just realize it's not all like this.
But I'm assuming you are talking about simple things such as GameMaker, RPG Maker, etc. There are other programs out there for Design, if you're really interested in Designing and making games, check out Alias.com Maya is a 3D Animation / Design program that I've been using for the past 3 Quarters in my Game Design class, and it's honestly really nice. You can build characters from scratch (out of polygons or something else I can't think of ... I don't use it much ) and then you can create their bone structure. Then of course, you need to apply textures and colors to them unless you want a gray character. After that you can move them around and animate them like a real person and do fun stuff. We also made a small "level" so to say in our "game" that we're making. (I don't think we'll actually ever get to test the levels out, but just to get the feel of what level design is like) Then we made 10 Medaevil weapons, and now we're making 10 Futuristic weapons; actually called "Stunning Devices" (School policy ...). So yeah, check that site out. Also 3Dtotal.com is a nice site where people submit there work, some serious stuff there. That's the kind of work I hope to be doing in a few years. I plan on bringing over some of my school work to home to upload and show you guys here, so until then just look around those sites I guess. |

I think most people on the Acmlm board line are into RPG Maker.
I can't say I ever got into that sort of stuff but whatever floats your boat. |
