Nothing is more amusing than answering questions about Thanksgiving and Black Friday from my Irish students. Apparently they think it's what we have instead of Christmas.

But yeah... we had Thanksgiving dinner, which was really good... but we had no pumpkin pie and it was bizarre to me.

I didn't really care about Thanksgiving, since my pickiness leaves me with nothing to eat, but I did go Black Friday shopping. I went to GameStop to trade in $51 worth of games. I thought the line was short, but then I later realized I accidentally ended up cutting the line >~<
I got Borderlands 2 GOTY because I needed the DLC, and on the Monday following I ordered Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus on their site.

Also, it seems like Black Friday Accidents could be very easily avoided, but, you know, idiots. Plus the stories seem like isolated events and pretty spread out. It's kinda one of those things that aren't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. But I'm probably actually wrong cause I didn't use any research at all :V

This might sum it up...

I'm surprised Black Friday isn't a banned kind of thing thesedays. It'd probably be the one time I'd be all for something getting shutdown and stripped away from us, makes me feel awful to be a human being when I hear the stories and see things like this over a gas trip worth of savings or something.

Oh jeez, this Black Friday was terrible. At least, based on what I was reading. People were getting STABBED over PARKING SPOTS. WHHHAAAAAT? A Wal*Mart employee was trampled to death, there were shootings and robberies and fights all over the damn place.

I'm just glad I spent Black Friday hiking and then having Thanksgiving dinner with Brandon's family (Thanksgiving day was ham since we weren't sure if Bran's mom would make it from Arizona in time for dinner).

But yeah, it was a good holiday for me. Went hiking and exploring some of the high desert. Then discovered the sheer glory that is a 50/50 burger (half-beef, half-bacon) with feta and pastrami.

Time for Amazon! haha

Yeah had a good time myself, got to see my aunt and uncle along with my cousins. Lots of good food. Stuffed. And feeling sick now. The usual!

2013 has been a good one, so I'm thankful for that, you guys, and all my friends!

Meh.

I'd care more, but I don't. Another day steamrolled by the hypercommercialization of Christmas. Another day of excessively noisy relatives that I don't even remotely like showing up for free food. Woo fucking hoo.

I used to enjoy holidays. Now, though, I eagerly await December 26th when all this bullshit's over with.

Yes indeed. I am very excited for Elara! And I'm glad you get to see Brandon's as well too, Rogue!

You know, over the past few years, ever since the older tier of nieces and nephews got older (Because now, my two oldest sisters like to get THEM involved in their fights, which in turn has gotten ME involved a time or two, but only to walk in, bang some heads together and walk out with my smart-mouthed nieces and nephew and tell the "kids" that if they get involved in their mothers' bullshit and start acting like little shits to their other aunts who are good to them, I'll knock them out.) Thanksgiving has been the better of the two holidays. Everyone still gets along for the most part.

By Christmas, its war it seems. I don't even bother touching Black Friday sales with them, like they try to get me to do every year. But, I'm looking forward for today. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I'm heading up to Central Cali to be with Brandon's family in the High Desert.

I know I've been cynical about this holiday many times in the past, especially regarding its origins, but it's an excellent excuse to see friends and family you don't get to as often as you like. I hope you all are among loved ones, or at least having kick ass adventures (like Elara is, at the moment).

People have been in line for days for Black Friday already. And I mean, there were people lined up at Best Buy on MONDAY, tents set up and everything. While I can understand the desire to save a few bucks, I can't express how stupid I find the notion of the entire thing.

Anyway, again, I wish you all a happy holiday.
