What is weird this year is the adults are staying in a hotel. The teens are staying with us.

Well, kinda. They are just seeing the sights and only come home until late at night. Overall: SUCCESS!

Christmas however I will be packing up my Computer and bringing it over to my mom's house. She wants to see it and I already have a lot of ROMS for the little kids to play with. Later that night I will be bringing the Jack Daniels out and my uncles and I (Whom are Masons) will be playing bullshit on my computer. on a 52" TV.

Can't wait for that to be honest.

E- Also nothing better than watching old people playing videogames. Every year has been the same with my mom and I. Last year she tried Punch Out on the Wii and I just about died laughing watching her play.

I've always wondered why people say "Pop", it's always sounded childish to me!

Glad to hear the relatives haven't been a nightmare, at least!

So far things have been easier for me this year. Everyone is in their teenager phase. So they are hooked on their phones.

Cool thing is that my two cousins who love anime got educated in some of the stuff I have been watching and they really loved them.

Family has been easier this time as well. For some reason they find me insanely hilarious and it's just simple stuff like making fun of the northern people and how they say "Pop" instead of Soda. (Let's not get into this arguement).

So....this really came as big surprise to me. Really.

Though not too many family members of mine will be present, there are the usuals: Grandma, Aunt, another aunt and an uncle, a cousin or two, my mom, step-dad, sister, brother, stepsister and -maybe- my stepbrother. There was supposed to be a huge gathering of family this year, but my sister's wedding on the 4th kinda through that off a little.

I'm also hoping to have the best Thanksgiving ever with as many of these people as possible, because it'll be my last Thanksgiving for five years. It's not exactly celebrated in New Zealand.

Despite the drama… having lost my dad when I was younger, it's brought the entire family a little closer. I truly cherish my family and the limited amount of time we have to spend together despite the large amounts of dysfunction.

I'm from the internet. It's like I speak russian or something when I mention Keyboard cat to them or whatever.

Oh and they are going to experience Vocaloid too. Which should blow them away. Hahahaha

Sorry, this is just the first moment that the lonliness of this year hit me. Hey, at least I get snow, right?

I'm sorry, sweetie.

Honestly, I wish I had a large family that wanted to come visit and spend the holidays here, like Bitmap's.

I grew up an only child with no friends. My dad's side wants nothing to do with me (being biracial) or my mom, and my mom's side is squabbling over money these days (not that holidays with them were that great to begin with, but it was the only extended family I knew).

These days, I'm far more apt to spend holidays with Brandon's family (well, Christmas is still reserved for my parents), and we drive out to Arizona for Thanksgiving and some time between Christmas and New Year's. Doesn't look like we'll be making the trek this year (no money, might get jobs that won't allow the time off, etc), and I can't help but feel truly sad about it. Brandon's family has accepted me with open arms, flaws and all. We might be having Thanksgiving out here, but not sure about Christmas. I'm not even joking about how much I'll miss Arizona this winter.

Sorry, Bitmap, this was about your family. I guess I'm just on the bandwagon of people who wish they had what you had.

First batch of relatives come in Friday. The good news is that it's the cool ones.

Kathrin and Elizabeth are huge nerds like me and we get along. Their parents, Cousin Mark and Cousin Mary are seriously cool as fuck and are totally chill with just about anything. So there is that.

But hey cool. This year I have Eden of the East(Anime) so that would be fun to watch it with Kat and Liz again. Maybe even Gurren Lagann. (They dont have internet)

I <3 you, Xeo.

We used to have my aunt or uncle come stay with us like that, once both at the same time (never again!). It was actually fun since both lived far away so it was one of the few times I got to see them. And normally both holidays mean huge family gatherings. I have three siblings, two of which have kids... six nieces and nephews, and a grand niece (from my sister's step-son), plus my childless brother's girlfriend and their dog. My family is hugely dysfunctional, so there is always drama... I think my sister and oldest brother are currently not speaking... I don't get it, I don't care.

So yeah, I'd have that, plus Ben's family (smaller and much saner), plus for Christmas there was the trips up to Tehachapi and Palmdale for family dinners with grandma, then grandpa and my aunts, plus my cousins and their kids, and Christmas Eve dinner at WhiteRose's house with her family and several friends.

... But this year... this year is my first holiday season in Pennsylvania, where it is just me, Ben, and his mom. It already feels kinda lonely, even though I am glad that I don't have to deal with the family drama. There will be no post-Thanksgiving gaming session with my friends, or holiday parties, or anything like that. Just the three of us, the dog, and the cats. I get to go buy a pack of "Happy Holidays" cards to mail out to people, and that is about it... maybe some gift cards to stick inside some of them, or just send my parents some extra money to add on to the stuff they spend to get family presents.

Sorry, this is just the first moment that the lonliness of this year hit me. Hey, at least I get snow, right?

I guess we have one relative like this. My grandfather on my dad's side. He pops in randomly nearly every day, buys groceries for no reason "You guys needed a few things" (a zucchini, a loaf of stale bread, a pack of razors, and printer paper (I don't even have a printer)?), then picks a fight with my mother when my father isn't around. I swear, I can't even remember how many times my mother has told him to never come here again!

But yeah, nobody in the family gets along with him. He's also blind in one eye, going senile, blanks out for 5 minute periods... AND THIS MAN IS STILL ALLOWED TO FUCKING DRIVE.

I'm going to be honest. I would love to have a family like your's Bitmap. I understand why we steal you away for our early Thanksgiving meal though.

I don't have fancy game systems like you do, and I know for a fact that the drama at our table... is going to be a bit of an issue.

I think you and I both relish in the fact that my grandparents are disturbed every time my brother's lifemate comes in. Plus, Bitmap, you and I both know I hate to be the only one that sees the big elephant in the room and they don't.

So it's not the relatives I don't want to see... It's the big drama that is not MENTIONED I don't like. I'll list it out.

-David's gay
-Kristin works at a sex shop
-Mom and Dad hate my husband

THEN there's the fact you can't discuss religion, politics, and sex jokes in my house. I have to make Eric behave when he's at my gram's house. To me it's quite funny. Eric does sexual innuendos around me. My siblings along with myself kick him in the shin. Normally we count the bruises the next day.

Why? Oh, you folks Don't even freakin know

I'm gonna post a video. It's a video that's going to represent my house for the next month.

You know that movie Home Alone. Not the actual story where you might think I am the "Kevin" in the movie being trapped in New York or whatever. But think outside the box here:

Before kevin get's "Lost" and before the whole flight and all. You know how the whole house is filled to the rim with relatives, cousins, family, and all? That's my house. Next week is when the first batch comes in and this year it's going to be worse with my aunt passing and whatnot. I will be getting relatives I never even knew existed. We are supposed to get around 100 people walking around my house.

Yes, you read that right. 100.

I have a Shit ton of cousins close to near my age. Usually around 15-22. The thing about them is that they are board school students. Meaning they never spend time with their parents and just think they can do whatever the hell they want. Two years ago I come home from work? I suddendly became the bad guy because "Oh hey we found Bitmap's Playstation 3"!. And I ended up kicking their ass out of my room.

Awwwwwwwwwwww, that's not fair. But these kids are spoiled rotten but not enough to where they had the privilege in owning a system like that. There was only a 'Few' that I would let play. And on Christmas Day it was honestly fair game so long as they took turns and shared. But not that day? Nu uh, it's mine.

Oh, and the Family that comes in. New York, Germany, Mississippi, Washington, the works. I have family beyond family. And it just so happens that my house is fucking HUGE enough to fit them all here.

My german relatives are...well, they are chill. I like talking to them from time to time. I just hope to God english is stronger this year because they would get mad at me for not learning the damn language.

My out of state relatives like to brag on how much their kid is going to be the next doctor or whatever and I always laugh this up to the bank. "Awwwww, how cute. Mommy and daddy paid for their car". "Their School". "They are holding their hand in life. How FUCKING adorable" Not being jealous or anything, I just laugh on how much they spoil their kids and how I think about how lucky I am for having good parents (Also, dad hates them too. And thank God we are so much in common)

And I know I brushed on them earlier. But my cousins, who are -still- in boarding school. Are all fucking idiots. Well, not all of them. Just three of them I enjoy their company and hearing fresh ideas on a game or an anime is always fun to talk about. But the others? HELL NO. "WHEN CAN I PLAY SOME FUCKING GRAND THEFT AUTO" coming from a 10 year old? Not cool. Get the fuck out of my room. Go listen to country music.

Also, the one thing my grandmother agreed on is that for the whole month it's gonna suck. But we both agree that the drama that happens is freaking hilarious to watch. DAMN GRANDMA, YOU GO GURL!

I dunno, I know it's weird hearing that some guy online has relatives that come on Thanksgiving and stay until a few days after Christmas is strange. But it happens to me. And I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE THIS

You guys got any relatives you are not looking forward to seeing? I do, and I have to experience them for a damn month in just two weeks. TWO WEEKS? DAMN!
