I had never thought of mining water from an asteroid before... that is a rather awesome concept. And that picture is somewhat disturbing. |

SOURCE OK, so it's only going to get just over 200,000 miles from Earth, but it's still pretty darn cool. They're interested in this asteroid because it's ones like it that scientists believe their collisions with Earth are responsible for our having carbon and water, and thus life. What's really cool is the idea that we could use asteroids as watering holes, mining them for water and other materials, aiding in human colonization of the galaxy.  |
