Explanation.

TL;DR? A high school kid made a series of mini-videos of himself getting excited in a complimentary way by how his friend, Daniel, dressed that day, paying particular attention to what shoes Daniel was wearing ("Damn, Daniel! Back at it with the white Vans today!")

Honestly it is rather clever because it conveys the same meaning in a more polite fashion.

I usually use the word "bro" whenever I mean to call someone a "douchebag," but am in a situation where I can't use the latter.

Example: "This bar has a high bro factor."

I'm not proud of the usage.

That's really outdated as well, people used to saying this a long time ago and now it's back?

Oh and anyone who says Damn Daniel should be Spiral Arrowed straight in the backside (hard), it's the worst thing ever. Somehow, one of my friends (who's basically knows all the memes and how to act on the Web in a memey style) finds it so fucking hilarious.

I'm not doing anything to anyone but it really gets on my nerves. I watched it, put it on the Memes Database site I own (basically a bunch of meme videos and such) and labelled it 'not a proper meme'.

Oh Christ, a new champion has emerged to take out "irregardless" ...

"UNSURREAL."

Was listening to NPR when a witness to some crazy shit used that word to describe what she saw in an interview. She said something to the extent of, "I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Like oh my god, it was unsurreal!!"

My friend got engaged to a girl much younger than he is. Like he's mid-30s and she just turned 21. I keep seeing posts on Facebook that she tags him in, and... dear God... I feel old. She keeps calling him "Bae" among other things.

Apparently "bae" is also the Danish word for "shit" and the Icelandic word for "bye."

Anyway... fuck people saying or writing "irregardless."

yeah

people use these idiotic words because of what is known as 'the media'
here are the rules to be part of the society:

  • look like you've starved yourself for 10 years

  • act like you don't know shit

  • obsess over celebrities and forget that the word is supposed to mean 'people who should be celebrated for [something influential or important]'

  • never accept others' opinions if they aren't always in the newspapers

  • post status updates every five seconds

  • do other stuff which makes you seem too thick to live

it depends on your country but seeing as the US and UK like to interfere with others' society it could possible apply to whole world soon.

New Pittsburghese complaint... this one doesn't come up that often, but it has lately:

"Nebby" - means "nosy". Just say nosy!

an idiotic word to enter the words of failure: 'real gamers'
what is up with these people, just because you play what is considered current means that you are superior to the rest
playing more than current games makes you a proper gamer, not just sticking to what's popular

Which is funny, since here in America you have all the hipsters saying "arse" and "bloody hell" because they think using British slang makes them sound cool.

I stopped doing it when everybody else thought it was cool after watching an episode of Doctor Who. It took a while to rewire my brain, due to all of my Brit friends.

Yep. American words suit Americans, British words suit Britons.
I can't imagine what an American would sound like saying British variants, it would NOT sound right at all. Especially for 'arse'.

We should just keep British/American languages different from each other instead of forcing it at each other. I don't mind if an American uses American words, but I do mind a British person using American words.

Damn. I like the phrase "throw yourself under a bus". That's my message to people that are idiots and get IP-Banned.

But I hate American stuff (not counting the under a bus thing, that's the only decent thing Americans made in this language), mostly. Since it ruins the English language.
Go to Britain and see a typical 13 year old group, none of them know what our language is anymore. They can't even say 'arse' properly, bloody hell.

I can deal with a lot of words, most of which I just ignore or simply learn to live with the fact is won't die out, but YOLO seriously needs to be dropped and never be said again. Ever. It is absolutely the most idiotic saying I have EVER heard, and it's basically like a scapegoat for when morons do stupid/life threatening things.

A bit late to the conversation, but whenever I hear someone say "yolo" I respond "you obviously like owls?" and they usually look confused. I hate YOLO and have actually bitch slapped a friend that said it more than once.

I LOVE OWLS! I'm going to say this now. XD
