Eh, I'll have to do it another time. She seems to busting up right now about her grandfather.

I guess the small world feeling for me lately is how many women I know are coming up pregnant lately. Just waiting for another one to go, but those who aren't pregnant are also those who would run off and pick up the morning after pill right away, as some of them have done in the past.

My mistake, it was Christina's post. Still I have no clue how they would know each other.

There is a Karen on my Facebook but not a Kristan.

Kristan Rodgers was her name, but she's since married. I can't remember her last name now. I think this was a post from yesterday. I just remembered it today.

Which friend of mine are you referring to, Rogue?

So Facebook is just one big, fat way to make you suddenly get that "Small World" feeling.

I was reading one of Elara's posts and noticed this girl commented that I was semi-friends with in high school. She didn't go to LBCC with us or anything, and yet she and Elara seem to know each other.

I go through this a lot when I noticed people are friends I didn't think would ever cross paths.

Another example: my philosophy professor from LBCC is not only friends with a couple of the Poxy Boggards (this musical group that does the Renaissance faires) and when I went to her house for a party, some of my teachers from high school were there.

ANOTHER example: the guy who used to do the music for the webseries I follow was in a band at the Renaissance faire that I love and his girlfriend who is in ANOTHER band I love was also the cast director for my old Rocky Horror cast after I left and we know all the same people. Heh. She recognized US when we were at faire one day because Brandon was wearing a shirt from his band and she remembered the band is mostly older Rocky Horror people.

On a lighter note, one of my childhood friends and a long time friend I met in 7th grade ended up becoming cousins through older siblings of theirs marrying into their families or something crazy like that. So suddenly two of my good friends got to really know each other and became family. So weird.

A friend of mine calls Long Beach the biggest small town. It's really common to bump into people on the street and just remember them from some place.

Anyway, this was uttered by said-friend after finding an acquaintance passed out drunk on the sidewalk with strangers laying next to her and taking pictures with her unconscious body. They scattered as we came closer, and we ended up taking her home. After which I never saw her again.

Amusingly enough, THAT wasn't my "Huh, small world" moment that night. See, we were leaving a show for a music group I like and when someone gave up their seat for me, the guy I sat next to and I got to talking and discovered we were both in the same Rocky Horror cast, at different times. We knew all the same people from there and went to many of the same conventions and just never met before that.

But, hey, I can go further than that. While asking a passer-by to take pictures of my roommates and I in front of a statue in Paris, the guy takes our picture and we notice he doesn't have an accent. "Where you from?" we ask. And he goes, "Long Beach, California."

Good stuff.

It's happened a few times in my life, though I think the most recent one was just one that I observed. I was looking at my nephew's facebook page and noticed one of his friends had a very unique last name that I recognized even though I had never heard of her. I clicked on the name and found out she was married to an old acquaintance of mine that I hadn't spoken to in years. Kinda creepy, but interesting.

I also had a small moment a few weeks ago when I was chatting with this one guy about the weather outside of a restaurant in Pittsburgh. It was pouring down rain and I made the comment that I loved this weather, since I had so little of it when I was in Long Beach. He'd been in Long Beach long ago, staying at the Queen Mary and knew of Shipwreck so we ended up chatting about that until the rain stopped and we were able to get to our cars.

Sometimes I get that toolbag that goes "Huh, small world..." over the most minor coincidence, and it makes me want to punch babies.

But sometimes they can be really cool...

Like, that pushover I work for, my District Manager, I mentioned in another thread...he was a senior when I was a freshman in high school...and we went to the same school. Not only that, but he's apparently friends with one of my cousins. Now, to be honest, all of this points to me should having known him a little better...but...he was three years ahead of me, and a school of 3 thousand students, and unless it's like someone a family member has been friends with since I was born, or REALLY little, I don't really meddle in their friendships.

But it was funny meeting him for the "first time" because here he comes...walking into my store like he's tough shit, shaking people's hands, introducing himself. Then gets to me and goes "Holy SHIT! It IS you!" and I'm all "What?" and he's all "Your last name is Babe...kinda hard not to remember..." and then proceeds to say "You're that little thing that beat the shit outta the football team when you were a freshman, right?!" And I'm immediately correcting him "No, not the whole team. And it wasn't much of a fight. They tried shoving me in a locker, but my big head stopped that...so I waited until they were all together, in public, went right up to the biggest one, pulled him to my height and flipped shit. That's not beating up an entire team. That's not beating anyone up."

And what's great is...he's been a pushover still ever since. Not that I WANT to bully people...but this is work, and my boss is a complete fucktard(See fuck you thread in Sunset) and I need someone's ear to get my way...considering HIS way has gotten some of my employees hurt in a robbery, since he didn't know how to handle it, and MY way has kept people safe. When the safety of my boys is the issue...Well, I am the BIGGEST bitch in the WORLD when it comes to seeing to their safety.

On top of that, my DM claims to remembering me being the one teasing him and my cousin because my uncle was taking me to a hockey game and not them. That I do vaguely remember though...The guy didn't stand out or anything, but since he brought it up and not me, I have reason to believe it was my DM that I was teasing. XD

So, has anything at least semi-cool happened to any of you guys, in which that "small world" toolbag would be right in saying?
