I miss Vulkar... punk still hasn't written back to me.
He's not super active here, but Geeogree is also Mormon and he is very good to debate with. If all else fails, there is religioustolerance.org |

You know who would be good to school me right now? Vulkar. Cause I know he was a Mormon, and I know there would be some good debated about this.
But I mean coming from a Christian, and a user who reads the bible. I have got to say that the Bible has answered a lot of my questions than having to rely on Freemasonry / Shriners itself. Enough to have me leave my local lodge! Which is saying a lot because a ton of people believe Freemasonry has a lot to do with the Bible (Which it dosent) and follows traditions as well as dead sea scroll practices (Kinda true). But the whole Heaven and hell thing that people believe has a lot of people assbackwards. And I was deceived when I was a part of my Baptist church. Now? I still to this day don't go to a church. Well, I do. But it's rare thanks to work. I go to True's Grandparent's church. But here lately work has me burdened and I have to work many hours. But hey, when I do I learn a lot, I follow the practice. Daily prayers with God, his blessing to avoid sin, and praising God through singing (You dont want to hear me sing.) |

That video was slander/parody, by the way. Not to be taken seriously in the slightest sense.
E- also, Joseph Smith never claimed direct descent from Jesus Christ. That part always makes me chuckle. |

I always interpreted the gods-who-used-to-be-human thing as when you die you get your own heaven. At least, this was how it came off when I was explaining the plot to What Dreams May Come to my eighth grade Advanced English teacher who took Robin Williams having his own interpretation of paradise as Mormonism.
All the same, as far as I can tell that video takes some of the extremes of the different Mormon beliefs (since, like all religions, not all denominations believe the exact same things as each other) and mashes them up. The issue of race, for example, as a bit skewed, making it sound as though all Latter Days Saints are racist. Joseph Smith supported abolishing slavery. I think it was Bringham Young who was the first to say dark skin was the mark of Cain, following Smith's death. Again, my apologies if my facts aren't completely straight. |

Originally posted by Nelrith I'm not going to let this be the basic judgement on how I feel is what Mormons believe. But i'll admit that I have seen this awhile back, and to this day I still don't understand it. There is just so much in that video that although has a lot to do with the bible; it does NOT mean what it's supposed to. People becoming Gods? Aloheim having sex with the virgin mary? I thought Aloheim was a part of the dead sea scrolls? Either that or the book of Jacob, im not sure. I mean for all I know Joseph Smith could have been the next coming for all I know or hell: One of the many prophesied in the Bible 1Co 14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. So that's a kinda spin on me |

This is what Mormons actually believe. It's true!

So, I promised that I would research more about the Mormons and Yasu, I have failed in doing so.
For starters, I first would like to apologize because a religous debate isn't what I hoped for, What I did like to see is the fact that many Christians were being deceived in their daily doctrines. And hopefully teach people who knew this sort of daily routine would and should know how things work when working with what God says in the Bible. But I will say that my fact still stands. Whatever the book of Mormon says about going into Heaven isn't what God says in the Bible. And I even shared scriptures in the OP of this post. However, I will say this. Which is in defense to you Yasu. The Bible has to interpret the Bible. Meaning this is what I believe: Heaven, according to what I know from the research I have read; is basically of this world. Earth. As it has said in the Bible. It's just the Man's way of calling err...Earth. Which is heaven. Christ's earthly rule. Now I have in the past seen Youtube videos of Mormons ruling over universes or whatnot. But again, I can't comment too much about it. I only know that from my Bible that a Godly Christan will rule over an Iron Rod. After resurrection of course (See OP for more) and that what the Bible interupts as "Iron" could mean something else. Just as the Bible said : 1 Corinthians 1:10-13: "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgement. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?" Baptists, Evangelists, the KKK, gangs, etc. It's groups. Which leads me to believe that the whole "Iron Rod" is more poetic than literal. Which stands with my saying "You have the let the Bible Interpret the Bible" Again, Yasu, Sorry. I'll be sure to do more research. |

Well, I can't really comment too much on mormons. I had a friend who was one and I know some others who are. But to this day I can't justify or comment about them.
But if the Mormon book says that there is a heaven and believe you go there when you die. That contradicts what the bible says and to me isn't accurate. |

No Rouge you had it right. Mormons are Christians. We do believe that Christ after we was resurrected came over to the Americas to preach his word over here. we also believe that there are latter day prophets. |

A little clarification.
Mormons ARE Christian. Christianity is the main religion with Mormonism being a sect. Catholicism, Baptists, Methodism, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Calvinism, Jehovah's Witnesses, and so on are all Christian sects. They all believe in Christ. They simply differ on a few details. In terms of Mormonism, they have an extra book and believe Christ came to America (if I'm way off, I'm sorry, Latter Days Saints). |

Originally posted by Yasu One problem with this. Mormons and Christians are two completely different doctrins as there are with baptists and methodists. So when you come in here saying "Well it says that in MY book" in a thread talking about Christianaty then you are automatically saying that it is in there.
There are many sins the Bible lists. I can't list them all for the sake of an amazingly large post but I can say that any sin is equal in God's eyes. Lust, Gluttony, Greed, there are a ton of them. |

I know absolutely nothing about the bible, therefore I can't testify what is right or wrong, but can only ask a simple question. What, in your opinion, does the bible (Book of Mormon...etc) classify as SIN? What is considered sinning in your opinion? |

Did I once say the bible? No, I said the scriptures I listed. I do believe in the bible. But I also believe there are other scriptures out there like the Book of Mormon, D&C and The Pearl of Great Price. Youbcan find all 3 of them for free on www.lds.org, or if you have an IPhone or iPad you can download the app Gospel Library. I would ask that you just try and read at least the Book of Mormon and if you have more questions I would be glad to answer them. And to let you know where in the Book of Mormon that it says that families can be together for ever is
"And again, verily I say unto you, if a man marry a wife, and make a covenant with her for time and for all eternity, if that covenant is not by me or by my word, which is my law, and is not sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, through him whom I have anointed and appointed unto this power, then it is not valid neither of force when they are out of the world, because they are not joined by me, saith the Lord, neither by my word; when they are out of the world it cannot be received there, because the angels and the gods are appointed there, by whom they cannot pass; they cannot, therefore, inherit my glory; for my house is a house of order, saith the Lord God." D&C 132: 18 You might make clams that because it isnotin the bible it is a false scripture. But I would just ask that you read it for your self and see. |

Where does it say that in the Bible? |
Yasu Posts: 365/513 |
Well I know that in your first post you made a comment about the fact that the bible dosnt state what will happen to you after death. I just know that after I had read the Book of Mormon, D&C, and The Peal of Great Price. That alot of the questions just like the ones you listed. For one I believe(and yes you can find versece in the the scriptures I listed) that me and my family will be together forever in heaven with god. If you want to know more pm me. |

Such as the whole boxers vs briefs debate. I've noticed that Mormons prefer boxers!

Form what I have read in your post you haven't done in research into the church of Jesus christ of latter day saints. I must say that a lot of the questions I had where answered when I read the book of Mormon. |
