Well, they do highlight the differences, but it still does not look good. I do hope that they are upgrading the other nuclear plants to better withstand that powerful of a quake now. Honestly, I would plan for higher... 10.0+

Fukushima is now at Chernobyl levels of severity.

I believe so. But they have been carrying on with their karaoke parties when they finished the series anyway. |

I bet most of them feel like assholes now. |

yeah this caused the Magical Puella Magi Madoka to be cancelled until further notice. What it looks like due to the earthquake... Something about one of the scenes having a huge flood hitting the Tokyo area so they cancelled it. From what it looks like that's the only anime I have scene canceled due to the quake.
It was a bit sad to see the comments on all of the people encoding the subbing to some of the fansubs out there. I will give you an example but please understand they didn't know that the earthquake was as bad as they thought it was.
guys guys guys.... More tact please. |

I heard about that, sheesh no break?... hopefully people were more prepared for this one or it didn't hit a bad area or something? |

A 7.1 hit Japan today. Tsunami warning was issued and the reactor is apparently fine.
Did Russia repeatedly curse Japan 18 years ago or something? |

Update on the Radiation Problems
Also, in case it had not been mentioned elsewhere, they bumped the quake up to a 9.0. Casualties are now estimated at 27,500 dead or missing. Bitmap, good work. |

I'm donating to the Red Cross the only and right way
Yes, I am going to be shaving my head. And for every member of the SA forums who shave their heads that guy has to donate $25 extra bucks. And for the sake of me donating. I will be donating money to the Red Cross as well! Update from the user who said he would donate $50 to every Goon who shaves his head. His name is "Baggins" Goons have raised over $30,000 dollars! Holy cow! Pictures and posts to come shortly! E- Just scheduled to donate blood on Monday as well! E2: Pictures! |

We have Armstrong, since it is also the only real internet company in the area what we can get since they won't let Verizon run their lines on the poles... I hate them so much.
I friend of mine posted this link and I just felt that I had to repost it because it is so easy for most people to forget that among the thousands that are dead and missing there are also a large amount of animals who have fallen victim to this disaster as well. I am usually pretty good about staying calm when reading and watching reports about disasters like this... but that report finally made me tear up. Swagbucks, a search engine website thing that I use, is raising money for a relief fund and I donated to that with what little I could. There is also the site Tofugu.com (whose owner wrote his own textbook for learning Japanese and posts fun videos) who has said that he will be donating 110% of all proceeds from sales on his site from now until he runs out of money to do it. Locally I have not seen much in the way of people raising money or doing much to help, but I would hope that I will see more in the days to come. |

I've done what little I could do so far toward the Red Cross relief funds.
A very dear friend of mind just came back from studying abroad in Japan and he's devastated. I feel so terrible for him. My heart goes out to everyone effected by this disaster, and I hope that releif and good news come to them soon. In the meantime, I'll just continue doing what I can, and I'm glad that many others have taken the same sort of stance, despite not being personally effected. (PS: What cable company do you have, if you don't mind my asking Elara. Local news here doesn't seem to be too great. Philly is fairly lucky, I suppose, but I still get most of my info via internet due to the stupidity of news here. =/ ) |

Yeah I have to say it's impressive how optimistic Japan is going on about the current situations. |

Japan Disaster Timeline
For those of you who are interested, this site leads to up-to-date information all in a time line format, and is updated as things occur. This is how I'm keeping ontop of it right now. |

As most of you know, I have very deep connections with Japan. I lived there, speak the language and have many friends and what feels like family there, most of whom I don't have contact information for. I actually had friends from Japan staying with me at my house when the tsunami and earthquake hit. Both of their parents had to walk 5-8 hours at midnight in order to get home, many of their friends they still haven't heard from.
Getting off the subject of the depression, here is a couple links that give you a bit of an idea of the grief, hope and love that's going on in Japan. They are all not very long/big, please take a bit of time. Just a bit of insight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdMzjq7J_8w Why I love Japan: http://www.facebook.com/notes/jun-shiomitsu/japan-quake-as-seen-from-twitter-translated-by-me-so-quality-questionable/10150121176733830 |

Omg. Humon! I have a bunch of her stuff favorited on my Deviantart. It's been a while since I've looked at her recent work, it seems.
Lots of Hetalia-like strips these days, it seems. Not bad. Returning to the original topic, I hope Japan's taking this as lightly as Humon portrays them to. I mean, over 10,000 dead is not something to sneeze at. |

I think that all the areas hit by the tsunami are getting help, but it is still good to offer aid to Japan because this was a very large disaster and it is nothing to make light of, at all.
Interesting bit of photography put up by the New York Times, a before and after look at cities hit hardest by the waves. |

Last I heard the potential number of missing people was like 88,000... jeeze.
Luckily it sounds like the nuclear meltdown is somewhat under control and definitely hasn't turned out to be as bad as originally thought, at least I hope so. Thanks for the update Bitmap, glad she's okay. |

Glad to hear it, Bitmap.
Here is the latest update from Reuters... the death toll is estimated at about 10,000 now.... http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/03/13/us-japan-quake-idUSTRE72A0SS20110313?pageNumber=1 |
