Ya know even though I love my little Pony I still could not name my comp out of that show. I just couldn't. Hell the names did not come to mind.

I named mine Gunmetal Badass and my Hard Drives are named Gurren and Lagann, respectively. I figured that the names would be hilariously appropriate, given the fact that it's filled with Pony stuff.

So I know everything is done and I have been using it ever since. Have not looked back on my old computer since this was built and I am loving all of the new features. But even when the build was done it still has a little more work to be done with it. So right now I thought I would share my checklist with you guys and even list off some games im currently playing on it.

- A new desk. Seen how dad builds houses him and I are working on a desk that is going to be a little more roomy than the desk I have now. I am going to donate this old desk to charity and use my new one. It also has a compartment for a mini fridge, its own built in fan for my feet and computer tower, and enough room to swing my chair around. It's "Done" but it still needs to be polished and it's gonna look nice once it's done.

- The fans on this computer are all intake fans. I already built a slot on the back of the tower a radiator slot for more intake, and I already ordered 3 fans to put on the side for my outtake fans. But for now It runs stable and it's not too bad. But when my room is hot my computer warns me it can only take so much more and thus I can't game on it. So that needs to be worked on.

- I made a thread in Gaming and I even have a list of games I am going to be LPing. Unfortunately, my old PS2 finally hit the bucket mid-game playing MGS3. So that's going to be put on hold. So for now I am going to switch gears and fraps a couple classic games before working on Playstation titles. When the time comes I will be making a new Youtube channel.

- My "studio" also needs some work. So I will be getting my hands on a boom mic from newegg here soon. I do weekend internet karaoke with some guys I met online and the mic quality isnt bad. But I would love to have a new mic. I do however have some really good headphones. It needs batteries (Rechargeable) in order to get the full effect. It's some freaking nice headphones.

- A new keyboard / Mouse. For now it works. But I can't see the keys on this thing when I am gaming so I would like to get one of those illuminated keyboards. A new mouse cause I think this one is dying on me.

Perks:

- It will play anything I throw at it on Max settings. So if you are looking for a good computer that will play all of your favorite games. You can't go wrong for around $750. Comes equipped with Win7 and an HD monitor. Even Benchmarked Crysis and it ran at a constant 60FPS 16X AA. SC2 45 FPS On Ultra. WoW 60FPS super maxed out. UT3 Super Maxed out. Everything I throw at this tower it's asking for more. And my GC isn't really OC'd that much.

- Core Unlocker actually worked. Didnt even need to increase voltage. Which means I have a 5 core processor. Downfall to this is 90% of the things I run don't utilize the 5th core. So right now it's a waste of power. Reversed it back to 4 core with no problems.

- Overclocking is easy on this tower and the program automatically tells me how much more power I can push on this tower meanwhile have those applications crank out a lot of heat. I can get about 30% more milage if I need to before I have to worry about radiant cooling. Which I am working on at the moment. But I won't need to OC anything right now cause everything I have makes all of my games run just fine!

- NOD32. Damn good antivirus software and just plain useful. If you can afford to have the program do yourself a huge favor and get it. It's the best in the market and reasonably priced. Link. Competition comparison. If you worry about viruses; you wont with this program.

- Smartboot. Not only can I bypass BIOS on this tower. But I have a flash Drive that is basically the "Key" to turning this computer on. Without it it asks for a password but with it it skips the password / BIOS prompt and just boots straight to windows. VERY nice motherboard program.

Again. Under a grand and reasonably priced. Easy to build. No hassle. Well, cept building it. You might need to know a thing or two when actually turning it on and making sure everything runs good. Other than that. This was an amazing project that is a 100% huge success! It took a lot of time and patience on my end. But the end result was totally worth all the stress, breakdowns my car had, a serious flu, Wisdom tooth taken out, IRS debt, and all along having to pay my rent and paying off my car.

And I know the name of my computer is absolutely silly. "Metal gear" was too awesome, Monolith (Yeah I thought about this name a lot) was too bland. But Hatsune Miku (A girls name) was juuuust neckbeardy enough. Perfect.

It's complete. Powered up with Windows, installed Firefox, Anti Viruses, and everything is looking good. Internet is being set up on it as we speak.

I'll post pics once it's 100% done (Hopefully this thunderstorm does not power us down first)

E- POSTING FROM NeW COMPUTER.

Motherboard comes with a core unlocker which I won't use until later down the road. Right now I am fine with my 3.2 Ghz.

Also, tested SC2 with many games on it and it ran at 40 FPS on Ultra. While installing WoW of course and it was just begging for more.

Holy crap I love my life right now.

Power Supply installed with the Motherboard / CPU. booted up with 1GB of RAM and so far it runs fine. Already notice a good BIOS and functions for Powerboot, which I won't need but is nice to have.

basically I can skip the BIOS at the start of a bootup and just go straight to windows straight from a flash drive. But again, I don't need it. but hey it's nice to have and all.

Monitor is just fine. No dead pixels or anything.

Only thing I am waiting on is the RAM and Video card. That's it. It shipped out this morning so it should come Thursday.

Other than that it's just sitting in my room collecting dust until the real parts come in.

E- Oh and won't install Win7 until the rest of the parts come because of hardware scan. Kinda skits about that sort of thing so I won't do all of that until late at night.

Oh and for the hell of it I maxed out the fans on the case and hooollllyyy shit is it loud. Louder than my AC. Won't have a problem with heat with this bad boy.

I like the 75Hz refresh, I don't like the 5ms response time... but it's a tradeoff

It begins.

Hopefully if there are no RMA parts I should have all of this done by Friday. Work has me working like a dog for the next four days and I am off Friday and Saturday. So I can spend all night on this bad boy playing with the big kids. So i'm excited.

Seen how I have to work a double tomorrow (And believe me I would love to work on this until the damn thing is installed with Windows) I'm just going to clean the piss out of the case and just install the power supply and the DVD blocks. Wednesday is when I plan on installing the motherboard and the OS to get it to run, and by Friday morning I'll be rolling with the big kids.

Pics to come soon

E- Oh yeah, and maybe perhaps I can finally work on my Let's Play project I have been so hyped up about. it just really sucks that it takes 3 days on this computer to compile to HD quality. Which is a total pain in the ass, but whatever. I already have a few episodes I am going to upload soon on a game I have been playing. Showed a few of my friends and they really enjoyed it. But criticism is always welcome. I already have a list of games I will be doing on my profile and I plan on making a general thread once I get an episode or two up and running.

Quite possibly the biggest steal of a deal I came across. EVER. I dunno if I linked this in the thread or not but 139 for a 22" Monitor? Christ

Oh and I did some tests to make sure the Lights work and everything. And they do, a georgous Blue-to-green effect!

That's weird. But I'll go ahead and post the specs here while I'm making this thread:

For starters, the graphics card has been upped. But at the same time the Motherboard only supports one PCI Express 2.0 slot, which is also compatible with 2.1. I don't need crossfire support nor do I need the extra bells and whistles necessary to get the most out of my games. With the build I am making next week it's more than capiable of running everything I am throwing at it.

Also, I will be posting pictures and hopefully a video once it's all done. And once it's done I can finally work on other projects that I am sure will be entertaining to everyone here. (Hint, Fraps)

Anyways, here it is!

ASROCK 890GX Already ordered at 89.99 (Currently sold out). This motherboard has everything I need to get the job done. Even a few little bells and whistles that are already on the box.

Xclio 550W (80 Certified) Power Supply: 550w is more than enough to power anything I need. And then some.

ASUS ASUS ENGTX560 DCII Got this one Sale while it was hot for $180. This is a little more powerful and competitive than the GTX 460. Can and will run Starcraft 2 in top benchmarks at 4X AA Ultra at a solid 45 FPS. 55 Average. As long as it can handle it at max settings with ease I am contempt.

AMD Phenom II X4 3.2 Ghz ON SALE NOW FOR $114. Normal price for this processor is around $150 I believe, and I nabbed this little baby yesterday. Very very good processor and seriously competitive with Intel. Biggest bang for your buck right here.

4GB RAM Yep. RAM is RAM. Don't need top of the line RAM.

ASUS 23" Monitor ON SALE FOR $159, CHEAPER IF YOU HAVE THE PROMO CODE. This is a badass monitor and I nabbed this guy for $138. VGA, HDMI, and Composite cable support and everything. Also supports 1080p visuals.

Finally a 500 GB hard drive, Windows 7 Home 64 Bit, and a few extra fans for my desktop. But one little cosmetic thing that I won't say here right now but it's gonna be a surprise.

Gave my Computer a female name. And once it's done and the effect works right. It's gonna be the most nerdiest gaming computer ever.

Like I said, when it's done next week I'll post pictures and even some videos of Fraps so you guys can see how well it runs and whatnot.

Very. Very. VERY excited to have finally bought all of the parts. It's on the way now!

I know that, I just can't see or find it. In the public wishlists tab it just shows a thousand peoples' lists, so narrowing yours down is hard. The link you gave doesn't go to yours specifically, it just goes to mine (which is empty).

Newegg has a wishlist you can make for when you buy parts in the future. I posted the wishlist which is also the parts I will be purchasing.

Oh hi thread, nice to see you again.

I AM ORDERING THE PARTS FRIDAY

Income tax came in, owed the IRS 400 bucks, paid that off, and now I am ready to get down to brass tax.

This computer needs to happen. Right now.

So right now I -do- have the money to purchase the parts. But I am waiting on Friday to roll around because that is when one of my biggest checks cash in. And boy is it a whopper. Once it's cashed in, it's time to go on a shopping spree and finally get the parts moving towords my house.

Graphics card is still the same but there are some minor changes. Again, talked with another friend of mine and got some kinks out of the build I am working on. But here is the

-FINAL RESULT-

Motherboard is out of stock but restocks this Thursday. It's about $110.

So yep, Friday. Woo~~!!!

Just an update on what is going on. I'll provide content.

E- You might be wondering why I have not have had this computer built by now? Well, certain bills came up. I got sick with something serious. And my car broke down about three months ago: Which costed me around two grand put together. So that put be back behind quite a bit. Anyways!

I have a good friend who is into building computers much more than what I do and he basically rallied up a tally on basically the perfect starting computer. Will run anything you throw at it on Ultra settings in videogames and comes equipped with a monitor. Windows 7, plenty of RAM, and a videocard that outdoes the GTX460 that I was praising about.

Only problem is that I don't have the list on my on this computer. But I'll post it whenever I get it.

Oh yeah, and here is the kicker! It's $800! And as a bonus. The graphics card will be free.

Why Free? He has one lying around his house. And he owes me one

I have that card sittin' on top of my tower and it's about half the length of my tower. It's huge! Heavy! And it will literally rock out with 2GB of graphics memory. My friend has one of these on his computer and with just one he was able to run off of three monitors while playing FPS games on it on max settings. Crysis be damned. 80FPS on Triple monitor setup. All of them 22" screens. Screaming!

Right now I can pretty much purchase the computer. But I want to wait until I get my Tax refund check in before I make any plans on purchasing it.

Also, when I do. It's going into my Credit. I need to start building that up and whenever I pay it off, I can use my good credit score to get myself into college. No interest if paid off in six months and I have to put down about $400 to get the party started. So basically, I am pretty much set and ready to go!

I talked with an advisor and he asked if I had good credit so I can pull off a good loan for school (Before you yipe about that let me finish). Seen how I have absolutely no credit. He said if I can raise my credit enough; not only will I be able to get a good loan but if I make good grades in school it's practically free. And they will pay me to purchase my books.

So basically I am going to be killing two birds with one stone here. Only thing I am waiting on is my income tax check to roll in and I will be ready to rock!

E- Whoops. I thought you were talking about my build! Just skip over what I say below.

Not really. If I had a 2 grand budget. I could do so much more with it. But thinking smart here: Spending that much on a gaming PC would be a waste. It's always street smart to spend around a grand on a new computer. It's always your best interest to think ahead while thinking about your budget.

At the most. I would say $1,200. This is without the monitor, OS, speakers, etc. What I have planned will be great for the next five years on gaming. But overall, not futureproof.

Update:

So I just sent a payment to newegg for my power supply. The Xclio 750w power supply.

It should arrive in the mail sometime this week.

The reason I went with 750w is because I plan on having dual cards running on this build in the final product. Why? Increased framerates, better stability, and very cost effective. By the time I need the 2nd videocard it will be cheaper and thus is a worthwhile purchase.

Still going to focus on the nvidia GTX 460 Cyclone as the main card for this build. I checked out a couple GTX 470 cards and it's a little overkill. With Dual GTX460's in future games it might not look prettier; it will play a lot smoother. Besides, right now the cards that are higher than that is just a waste of money in my opinion.

Also, I am debating on getting This CPU as the main chip running this beast. It's only $130 more than the quad core. BUT! With games featuring more cores than needed; it might be a good bet that this CPU is what I need in terms of gaming to the extreme. So what am I gonna do? Work more doubles and just suck it up for the next three weeks to cover the expense.

Six. Cores. 3.4 Ghz. Easily OCable to 4.0 on Air alone. That's a little mindblowing.

Yeah, I was going to say before I saw your second post, that not having an OS would probably be bad.

Otherwise, seems like a decent setup. Since you're doing your shopping on Newegg, don't be afraid to look for deals and such. Most of the time you can get two items bundled together for super-cheap. I had a couple of deals go into my PC.

When I built my PC, it ran me about $1100, after the monitor and everything, and let me tell you, I still run current games on 1680x1050 resolution, on ultra graphics settings, and it's a beautiful monster.
