Think about It's a Wonderful Life, he is just telling his story.

Interesting story. There were a few places where the sentence structure seemed a bit off, but that is fixable. The big thing that sticks out is how is he narrating if he is dead?

My name is Jerald. I work in a small accounting firm in south east Metropolis. The name of the firm is Moore and Sons, I’m neither Moore nor Sons, I am a janitor who works for them. Every day is a new and exciting adventure due to our beloved big blue boy scout. His endless clashes with his vast rogue’s gallery leave us the everyday citizens in its wake. The first few times I guess I didn’t really mind. I was the one to blame for being a janitor but, a little appreciation would go a long way. But, alas I continue on. My name is Jerald Gibbons and on September 3rd I killed Superman.

My story starts as most others do. A girl, her name was Jen, she was beautiful, witty, and for some reason in love with me. We were just kids in love I guess. She worked as a secretary for Moore, and I swept up the mess they left. We had been living together for a year and a half. She was everything any man could want. It’s funny she took me skydiving for my 23rd birthday, she looked so beautiful then. I loved her. Sorry, I tend to get swept up in my memories. She was working late one night and I was at home preparing a very special dinner for us. It was our anniversary and I wanted to ask her to marry me.

I moved all of the furniture out of the living room, which was difficult because of the lack of space we had, but I made it work. There was now a little ballroom in our apartment and I started making dinner. As the pasta was cooking I called her.

“Hey baby what’s up?” Her voice was sweet, innocent.

“Hey, when are you coming home?” Why was she with me, the pretty girl with the bachelor’s degree with the high school drop-out? I loved her.

“Oh, soon babe I just have to finish filing papers and I’ll be right home.”
“Okay I’ll see you then sweetie, I love you.” I did.

“I love you too.” I cried. I hung up the phone and got back to making dinner. The pasta was finished; I stole some recipe off line for her favorite food. It’s some Italian pasta that I’ll never be able to pronounce. But it was on the table with slightly burnt garlic bread and parmesan cheese. I went to our room to get ready. A long hot shower, the shirt she bought me for my birthday, the tie she bought me for Valentine’s Day. It was horribly ugly, bright pink with dark red hearts all over it, it’s my favorite tie. Then I walked over to my dresser. In my underwear drawer there was a small felt box. Inside of the box was a small ring. It was my grandmother’s, my granddad had bought it while on tour in Africa, and the diamond was really big. When I told her that I was going to propose to Jen she gave it to me right off of her finger. She cried. I sat down at the table with the ring in my pocket. Her favorite song was playing. Hum Along, by Ludo. God I loved her. It was three hours later when I was told she had been killed. I cried.

A mugger had stopped her as she walking home; they took her purse and then killed her. They stabbed her in the lung, she couldn’t scream for help, she just quietly laid in a pool of her own blood until she choked to death. The paramedics say that it took ten minutes, ten minutes for her to die. Superman once saved three banks on opposite sides of the city from being robbed. It took him three minutes. It took Superman ten minutes to let a woman die. My woman. My Jennifer.

The next day was the worst day of my life. I barely remember being able to see through the beer goggles. Soon I lost my apartment, my job, my car. Everything was gone. I was numb. I was living on the street wearing a white button down shirt, and an ugly pink tie with little red hearts. It was a year later. I was drunk in the center of the city. I watched as the First National Bank of Metropolis was being robbed. But then I blinked and he was standing there. Next to him were the bank robbers, at least most of them. There was still one guy who was shooting at him. The bullets bounced off, as he walked over and crushed the gun, then the man’s hand. I stumbled over to him.

“Hey!” I shouted, I looked disgusting and he looked pristine in his suit. I hated him.

“Yes?” He turned and smiled. I hated him. Stupid smile.

“You killed her.” His smile vanished. “You killed her.” I repeated

“Sir I don’t understand what you’re saying.” His voice was deep and caring. Fuck him.

“Jen, you killed her. She died and you didn’t help her.” He was getting agitated; I guess anyone being called a murderer would get a little steamed.

“I’m sorry sir, I can’t help everyone.” He can’t help anyone now. I hated him. He soared into the sky as I screamed after him. He could still hear me, I know he could.

August was dying. It was August 29th when I walked into Jim’s Thrift, a crumby old place on third. I pawned my grandmother’s ring. He gave me a thousand for it. I got ripped off but I didn’t care. I used the money to buy a gun, 6 bullets and a green rock. I knew it was kryptonite, Jim didn’t. He didn’t know he was selling a rare meteor, and one of the only things that could hurt Superman. Idiot. I shuffled back to my friend Matt’s house. I had been living in his garage for six months when he found me walking the streets drunk. He was a big mechanic type guy covered in biker tattoos that made him look as though he could fight superman. “The biggest guys have the biggest hearts.” He told me that when he took me in. I hid the gun in my pocket and kept the bullets in the small box that they had come in. I walked into his garage and got to work. I knew as I began to melt the kryptonite, I was going to kill Superman. I wasn’t going to back out last minute, I was going to pull the trigger and let him feel what Jen had felt, pain. It took me four hours to coat all of the bullets and put them back. That night I had dinner with Matt, we had steak. I had never tasted anything so good in my entire life. I practiced what would happen for the next few days. It was September 3rd, I left Matt’s house. On the bed he let me use I left fifty four dollars and twenty seven cents which was all of the money I had. Today was the day. I left wearing the same clothes I walked in with. A white button down that Jen had bought me for my birthday, and an ugly pink tie with dark red hearts on it. In my waist band was a small handgun that had six bullets in it. I walked into a small bank off of 13th. There were two guards sitting together. I felt my stomach get lighter as I walked into the bank. I walked to the two guards and pointed my gun at them. A woman screamed, and someone hit an alarm. The two guards dropped their guns and left the bank.

“J…Just get next to the teller’s counters, this will be over soon.” I said with my voice breaking. I knew that he was on his way, but anticipation got to me. I pointed the gun at the ceiling and pulled the trigger. The bang was deafening. He was here. The man of steel was standing in the doorway. I raised my gun to his chest.

“You don’t want to do that sir.” His voice was smug. He knew the bullets would bounce off.

“Yes I do.” I cried as I pulled the trigger. The bang was deafening. I watched as the immortal man fell to the ground. I kept the gun trained on him, and pulled the trigger again. And again. I was crying. I hated him. My legs wanted to give out but I made them go forward to his lifeless body. I had two bullets left. I raised the gun to his head and pulled the trigger again. He was dead lying in a pool of his own blood. I pulled the gun to my head and pulled the trigger. I wasn’t crying anymore.
