Yeah, they've had that for awhile actually... they just push the one with two filets more.
Where is this awesome place you speak of? |

There's that really good Croatian/Italian place, but it's strictly take out. $8 for a decent sized calzone with whatever you want in it, and you can pick up cheap drinks at the liquor store next door.
But back to the topic of KFC, it's interesting that they've started these $5 box meals with the option of just getting a fried chicken filet. It comes in a bag like it's a hashbrown or something. I ended up getting that while on the road, heading out of Bakersfield. It wasn't bad or anything, but it was on par with just ordering a hamburger patty with no bread or anything on it. |

Sadly according to research, this thing is healthier for you than some other sandwiches because it is extremely low carb (damn you Atkins Diet!)
I have not tried it, but I have tried just the filet so I can imagine it. Also, I have tried the new permutation known as the Doublicious Sandwich (with Hawaiian Bun and only one filet). The only reason I got it was because it's a $5 meal and I was sick of Taco Bell and Jack in the Box. Gods I wish there were better places near my work for food. |

Originally posted by Phoenix http://www.dailytitan.com/2010/04/13/kfc-releases-double-down-breadless-sandwich-nationwide/ We actually posted it months ago (and didn't get to print it), but when the Double Down went national we revamped the story and put it out in the paper the next day. Yeah, when it came out, a bunch of us in the office marched on down to the KFC around the corner, picked up a few and headed back to eat them while the other staffers watched in awe and disgust. While at the restaurant, though, one of our editors asked about adding another fillet and the guy there said they'd do it for another $2 and there's no limit. Being California, home of In-N-Out where you CAN get a hamburger with 100 patties on it if you want, I'm sure SOMEONE'S doing this now. |

Well, I'm a a vegetarian, so I could care less what it tastes like.
On the health matter, though, this is probably one of the worst things for you. I'm pretty sure 'double down' has something to do with falling to floor while having a heart attack. Anyway, how did your writer do, Rogue? I'd love to read the article. |

They're really not that bad, I tried one once.
Honestly though with a Popeyes just a little further down the road, I've pretty much stopped going to KFC altogether. |

That's quite a bump there. Next time try to add more to the topic.
Well, since it's up at the top now might as well ask if anyone's tried it now that it's gone national. I got one on the day they first started making them. It was salty as hell. I figure the only real way to enjoy them is to split up the filets and make two sandwiches. My boyfriend finally tried one a couple weeks ago. His wasn't even close to as overtly spiced and salty mine was. Oh well. Anyone else get one? What about the grilled edition? |

On the list of things humans have created that shouldn't be eaten we have THAT, the bacon chesse pizza thing, the McGangBang, The McTurf&Surf, The Froke, and the Friendly's supermelt that is two grilled chesse sandwhiches with a burger in the middle, and almost as dangerous is the RAZOR BLADE! |

...I think that this KFC actually sounds pretty good?
It's gotta be healthier than what I eat at my dorms, anyway. |

Looks like the aftermath of whenever I have a Jack's pizza and chocolate milk.
(it's sooooooo good! I can't help it) |

... That is utterly disturbing. Wow... just... just wow. I think I am going to be sick... yet at the same time I kinda want fried chicken now. Damn you KFC, damn you and your brainwashing!! |

I assigned one of my writers to do a story juxtposing the Double Down with the Gorilla sandwich, which is pretty much a hollowed-out cucumber filled with vegetables, nuts, and such. Comparing one overly healthy sandwich that doesn't use bread with another breadless stack of ingredients that's unbelievably unhealthy for you.
I'm looking forward to getting the campus' reaction. |

Somehow, I'm not deterred in the least bit. I still want some KFC! I might go down and see if they know about it at my local restaurant, I still have some unclogged arteries left. |

Wendy's needs to top this by replacing bread with hamhocks wrapped in more bacon. |

... Somehow, the baconator just got destroyed. |
