Beneath his cowl, Night's grin widened.

Before him, a single sphere sparked into life. Molten orange, arcing with yellow flame. To its left another bloomed, the dusty red of a barren world, and spun slowly around the first. One by one they formed, planets, suns, entire solar systems spread out across the plateau.

"In this lottery" Night said, his voice thick with malevolent intent...

The spheres stopped, first slowly blackening before collapsing into themselves with a thousand echoing cracks, becoming single points of glimmering nothing. The void-like surface of each began to split, caught in a moment of flux. Before they could expand, they simply...vanished.

"Everyone wins."

Night's cowl slowly withdrew, curling back of it's own accord to reveal, for the first time in millenia, the visage of the God-Killer.

Shimmering silver hair cascaded down his back, framing a face almost elfish in its nobility. Skin of pale, sickly gray. High cheekbones set with a single row of small, dusky spikes. A nose sharp, defined. Jaw narrow and proud. Slightly pointed ears. The mirrored lenses that masked his eyes drew into themselves in segments before sliding into the chip of black and silver silicon embedded in his right temple, revealing globes of pure black set with silver irises and pupils of deep empty grey, alive with a bright blue light.

His demeanor shifted from malevolent to almost casual, relaxed and unconcerned. One corner of his mouth twitched up into a smirk.

"Alright, kid. I'm curious. Before i kill you, tell me...what are they saying about the God-Killer these days?"

The bearded man turned and faced his challenger. A cool breeze blew about the two men, kicking up a fine layer of dust. The bandaged man curled his hand, and the dust swirled in cue, slowly at first. He outstretched his palm and the dust continued to gather above it, forming a small sphere.

"I've heard many things about you. Not much of it has been kind. All of it has been conflicting."

The sphere continued to grow, compacting until it essentially had formed a miniature planet. The rigid crust of the world flowed like water. In the blink of an eye, the sphere became a vibrant blue, wrapped with a thin coating of gases and clouds.

"I'm truly curious as to why you are here. Your intent is murder, of course, but your purpose is ambiguous. Something tells me that the answer is simple, that I am little more than the winner of some chaotic lottery, but to pretend this is the complete answer would belittle your insanity."

The man closed his hand, and his cerulean orb began to shatter. The water floated outwards, and the exosphere convulsed. After a few frenzied twitches, it exploded into dust and floated free, lost in the breeze.

"No matter the cause, I promise you I shall put up a fight. With all creation, there is destruction. With growth, harvest."

The Author, a servant of the force of Creation, steadied his footing.

(Interesting...an unlisted character? Hmm....)

You're really going to do this, arn't you?

"I am."

And what do you think you're going to accomplish? You could bring an end to everything, and it still won't bring her back.

"You know Auraka...even if it doesn't, at least it will make me feel better."

The Councils will gather. All of them. They won't allow this.

"I don't recall asking their permission."

As he sped through the undulating, churning tunnels of the Nexus Network, a vast web of heliotrope and indigo wormholes linking existance to existance and dimension to dimension, he tried to think of nothing but the coming battle. He tried to keep his minds from wandering, lest they stumble across some fragmented memory of her. He wanted...he needed...to become lost. In violence. In destruction. In death. A great sea of blood to bathe away the only loss he had ever felt. A sea to drown in.

"Don't bother."

Night's gray lips drew into a thin, sardonic smile.

-----------------------------------------

A great, screaming wheal echoed through the canyon, the sound of a thousand sheets of steel being torn and rendered...or perhaps of a dimensional wall shattering like glass.

The skies did not darken, but rather there was a sudden absence of light, as though it was being drawn away to some distant point. It was there, in that dim ebony sky, that he appeared. Behind him, a great gash in the very fabric of reality, offering a brief glimpse of untold wonders before sealing shut and vanishing as if it had never been.

A tall figure shrouded with a cloak of inky black, descending slowly onto the canyon's platou. In but a moment he touched the earth, and the cliff below let loose a low, ominous whine as if under the strain of a great weight.

He turned hidden eyes on the man who stood before him gazing into the abyssal waters below, the same malicious smile twisting his unseen mouth.

"Turn and face me, child."

"I am The Bringer of Night Eternal...The End of All...Oblivion. And yours is not the only life i have to take, so let's make this quick."

"I'll need your name, your classification, and how you'd like to die. I make no promises, but i will make every effort to accommodate."

He waited, still as stone, every inch of his being displaying a controlled calm that masked the need beneath. The need to end this man's life.

EDIT: Adding post now.

It is said that beyond the mortal world there lie innumerable worlds beyond our comprehension, sealed from us by the most ancient of magicks. However, to those that rise above and beyond the mantle of mortality, who demonstrate the temperance and prowess of gods, these worlds are playgrounds. The worlds are clay in their hands, and their willpower alone can twist reality to fit their needs.

Our battle begins in one such world. Once a blank canvass, it has been shaped into a vast canyon overlooking a sea of black water. Ominous clouds roll in from the south, carving its path with the growl of thunder. Perched atop the cliffside stands a man, watching the water crash against the wall of stone. His complexion and features are similar to those of an Egyptians', tan and sharp, with closely cut black hair. Besides the loose grey pants and starched white bandages upon his hands and feet, he is unarmored and unarmed.

He silently awaits the coming of the night.

I see me a little tournament, and i believe i am far over-due to make a reappearance.

Need to shake off the rust, and i am going to require one -very- unfortunate victim to do so.

First taker gets choice of scene.
