I didn't find it confusing at all. I can see how some might be a little bit though. I haven't hit the really confusing parts yet though, so we shall see how that goes. |

The overall storyline to Clannad +After Story is rather mixed up and could get a little confusing. I ended up piecing it together luckily. 
Good anime, though. After Story got so heart-wrenching. Ushiooooooooo <3 |

The girl & robot thing was part of the game, like I said before. There is also a movie version of Clannad that doesn't really follow the plot of the game as well and it sucks. The characters are so different and everything moves so fast that you really don't care about any of them... hell, half of the characters aren't even in the damn movie.
My boyfriend described the series in a nutshell: Life shits on Tomoya. Overall, I think it is pretty accurate at times. Sadly, about half the time when I am watching it I see that little pet boar running around and can do nothing but smile and say "piggy". It's too cute, I can't help it. |

Clannad is a pretty good romance. It's one of those animes that never EVER shows a kiss, but somehow makes up for it with it's sweet story line.
I didn't like the ending of afterstory at all Spoiler: Clannad is also hilarious and After Story certainly made me cry at times.
The fantasy element started to ruin it for me. I never liked the beginning segment about the girl and the robot. Once I got myself to sit through it all, it turned out to be good. What I really like is the OVA's that have alternate endings. Spoiler:
With Tomoyo and Kyou's was just announced! That all I have to say for now, I'm in a hurry though. I'll probably say more later. |

This little romance tail is pretty interesting. It was originally a game that had you playing the main character, Tomoya, and through various choices and situations you ended up with one of the girls that he went to high school with. The series is pretty close to the game, but it is very well done and very funny. Then there is Clannad After Story which picks up where the first series left off and was apparently a special set of events in the game that unlocked if you chose that character (you know who it is if you watch it).
Overall, the story is very touching and in some ways pretty fucked up at times. Events that happened in After Story actually brought tears to my boyfriend's eyes. So yes, thoughts? |
