Well I had a temp job with Allied Staffing awhile back. Sucked ass though, bad pay, had to get up at 4:00-ish AM, etc.

Good news though, the original job I was wanting to get (in the first post) finally, after two months of waiting, hired me. I start Monday.

Great pay for little experience, optional overtime, 401k, medical benefits, etc!

Hopefully they will have a position for you! Hey, we can hope.

Allied Staffing called today ... they missed me... I missed them. Ugh.

Wonder what they want though. I'll try to keep up with them, the number I called back was their hiring/staffing line or something.

So, here's the story.

My friends there ended up telling me there would be a 5/8 chance I'd get hired, they needed 5 positions filled by were going through 8 applications. The supervisor I went through an interview with and everything supposedly recommended me, from what my friends say.

Well simply put I guess I wasn't lucky. They finally got back to me and basically said I could be "backup", so I went to go piss in a cup for them and I'll see if one of those 5 applicants fails a drug test.

On top of that the other place, Allied Staffing, which had tried to contact me last week and I tried to get a hold of them to return the call, was going to schedule me for orientation at their packaging/shipping place. I finally get a hold of them today and there's no more orientations, they're slowing down with that for now.

Boy, this'll be a great Christmas.

See, the problem is, I know every single business I can apply at, because of my limited transportation.

More to the point, I walk everywhere because there's not a single reliable person I know with a car. The pay in this town's just shitty. Minimum wage in damn near every job, a gas station strangely being the only exception, but it's a bitch to get hired there. Apparently, a gas station paying nearly $9/hr as the starting rate doesn't often lose employees. No idea why.

See, that's also why it took me so long to find something; if I could get to Harrisonburg, Front Royal, or Winchester easily, then I would've had a job within a month of Wal-Mart firing me.

But this was about you getting a job, not my shitty job.

You could maybe look into them or something:

Not sure if anything is in your area though. You could maybe try Allied Staffing also, but I'm not sure if they're local or not. They were really fast about calling me back for a position at one of their warehouse companies.

Ah, same for me, except I got my job a few months ago.

It pays much less than yours. Bastard.

EASIEST INTERVIEW EVER.

I think it literally took maybe 10 minutes or so.

Basically the guy just joked around how I knew two people that worked there, so he didn't explain the job or anything. Then he just asked me two questions. He also had experience working with Jiffy Lube, so we could relate on that. It was so easy.

I'll hear back within the next few days about it probably.

I haven't worked since last November.

But I wasn't serious about getting another job until maybe two or three months ago...

Sorry, I meant:

How long did it take you to find this job after losing your previous one?

Now you have money to buy Christmas Presents for people, yay! Congrats on a new job. Money in the pocket is delicio, and it sounds like you're getting a good gig.

...buy me Rockman ZX Advent. =(

For? I think the interview was only 30 minutes or so. The on-site assessment took about two hours though, but it was just filling out a bunch of those typical questions on a computer (like most online applications thesedays I guess).

And I know what you mean about interviews. This was probably the easiest one I've ever had, compared to a bunch of other places I interviewed at a few years ago... even a place like Golden Corral, I remember they threw tons of those questions at me.

Of course, maybe the second interview one will be tougher and more annoying?

DS, I totally agree. Money is =P

I think I might have a position available through Allied Staffing too, doing the same thing kind of. Though they're a hiring agency and all that so I don't know, figured it might be better to go with an actual company directly right away. I guess some lady called today about a position with one of their packaging/shipping places opening up, so I'll probably give them a call after my next interview with this one place just to compare the offers.

Only four? Fuck, I've had interviews that were almost nothing but those irritating open-ended questions.

Which is bizarre, since working at Wal-Mart really doesn't require much mental agility beyond juggling the competing demands of five different supervisors, but anyway...

Congratulations. How long did it take you, anyway?

- Did an on-site assessment today. Either I nailed it, or they need people, or something. I was scheduled for an interview a few hours later in the sameday.
- Went back and did the first interview with a recruiter. My god, was that the easiest interview or what? He only asked like 4 of those weird open ended questions. Seemed like a nice guy.
- The security officer and assessment lady both remembered my name and everything when I returned.
- Got a second interview scheduled for tomorrow.

Security Officer: "Well Steve's just blasting through everything right away!"

Awesome?

If the next one goes well tomorrow, I think I'll have the job.

It's nothing too awesome... packaging/shipping medical supplies, inventory, that kind of thing (lightweight, not like UPS). The company is Prescription Solutions, under United Heath Org or something like that. I have two friends that work there and they say it's easiest thing ever. Pay starts at $10.00 an hour, a good bit more than what I ended with at Jiffy Lube. I'll be Full Time for awhile, not sure how long that'll be ... but I'll probably go back to JCCC (community college) sometime next year to try and get an Associotes at least.

Good pay, easy, etc. I'm actually excited ... it'll be nice to have money and just be busy again. Give me a month though and I'll wish I was doing nothing.

In other news, my uncle might become a millionaire.
