I got bored already, lol.

Burned out I guess, then again I've just been pretty sick lately and haven't felt like playing anything, not even GTAIV which I'm really enjoying.

Wow, Agility Battlesmith = Epic.

Probably won't be that hard to reach Whitesmith actually.

The hardest part was being a Merchant, couldn't really do much without the buffs and whatnot.

Seriously, an Agi build was incredible for Blacksmith. I solo'd up to 99 pretty easily. I think I just stuck to Isis'. I've got a Whitesmith now but yeah, that's kind of when I just stopped playing.

In general, I can say I'm not big on MMORPG's. RO is really simple though, maybe that's why I like it sometimes. I dunno.

World of Warcraft is good. It is gripping, intuitive, and you'll find yourself doing quests for hours on end. It is well worth the 15 bucks a month, especially if you have the money and can afford it.
Global PVP is one of the highlights, and Arenas and battlegrounds only further it.
It's an incredible experience that blows just about everything RO had out of the water.
RO had one cool thing; the Card system. I liked that. Everything else is exactly has Ryan described; bland, boring, nondescript grinding with next to no quests. Still, I cherish the time I DID spend on TwilightRO and StarlightRO (which was well over a year).

While the gameplay mechanics are similar (btw, what other kinds of games do you play? we can do this same thing with basically any game if you really want to play the "everything's the same" card), there's at least a story behind them, usually a pretty well-written one.

, but I don't want to have to pay £5+ per month to play them and spend thirty hours grinding my character before I can get the decent quests...

You know... I actually enjoyed most of even the low-level quests I did in WoW, once I got out of the tutorial-style ones, and learned my limits. I quit because of the idiots on that server...

For time wasting, try Peggle or Four Second Firestorm. Excellent for time wasting, and they're really fun to play anyway.

MMORPGs to me, unless you've got a load of friends to play with, feel more like a job than a game, and the only reason you play them is to feel good about having a high level character... Only to see on the high scores page that your character is still rank 32000 under a bunch of people sadder than you.

Yes, quests usually aren't very good. Yes, it's essentially just an endless quest to level up your characters with no end. Yes, for some you have to pay monthly (I don't like those).

However they're still good time wasters and they're pretty fun for a while. Especially with people, obviously. I tend to take extended breaks of a few months or more because I get bored, but then get interested again.

That said, I actually played yesterday because some Real Life folks were on. So I chilled with them. For a bit.

Alright...

Let's talk about the quests or anything you can actually do in MMORPGs. Pretty much the only kind of quests you get in them are along the lines of "Kill monster X to obtain a specific amount of item Y for person Z"

The ones that deviate slightly from this are the ones you get at very high levels.

True, WoW and City of Heroes may be different, but I don't want to have to pay £5+ per month to play them and spend thirty hours grinding my character before I can get the decent quests...

I Fall under this catagory, cept I play PSN except MMO's.

I have tried playing WoW for a month. Yes, I gave it a month. And for every day, I have never made a friend. Maybe a few kind and generous people, but no one that I have ever talked to outside and while playing inside the game itself.

If I join, it better be with people I know, and who will possiably....help me? I only played RO for 15 minutes on Thex's server, and I just felt, after reading his old board (Moonlit RO?) That "If you do not know how to play, then dont ask us." feeling.

I dunno, I need a good MMO to play. Maple Story got way too boring for me. So I quit.

In my limited PVP experience in World of Warcraft, I'd have to disagree, considering the fact that my rather poorly-equipped Rogue killed multiple twinks that were one to four levels higher than him.

There's also my City of Heroes experience, which indicates much the same thing; though I had crap for Enhancements, clever use of my limited Temporary Powers carried me through situations that killed the rest of the team.

Er... that doesn't reduce the skill needed, that just reduces the time it takes. And I've been through the "time does not equal skill" rant before. (hell, look at the WoW example; I did that only a month or two into the game.)

By "we" I meant my friend and I. Friend has left RO, I think. So basically I am alone in my guild now. XD

And yeah, no WoE yet. Especially not on that server.

Understood Valhalla.

Mion: Yeah, I'll definitely join up if you play again for a bit or whatnot. Can't promise I'd do WoE though (if you guys even participate?). But, I look so lame without an emblem.

Don't think I've tried those area's out yet though. So I'll have to take my Sniper there and try them out.

So I reset my stats for my High Priest to make an ME build ... man, it seems epic but I seem to be just a -tad- bit too weak to level in the higher area's, like Odin Shrine 2 and Cursed Abbey. Gah, guess I'll have to keep spamming Turn Undead on Anubis' for a little while longer.

Worked on a Merchant today. Mainly to sell stuff later on. I'm trying out a Agi / Battlesmith build, most of my Merchant/Blacksmith's in the past sucked so I hope this works out for once. Would be fun to actually make it to Whitesmith.

Odin's Temple. Me and a bunch of guys went there and tore shit up.

As for a Knight being too steep, it's not too bad. You can stick to High Orcs and reach 99 decently quickly, no matter what build you choose. I went with a Speed Knight. Berserk is fucking crazy when you go LK, especially with some of my awesome equips.

Ah, good times. You should join my guild when I'm not too lazy. We are the Principality of Zeon, out to crush the Gundam other guilds!

I would play with you guys, as Rebirth was one of my favorites, but I kinda need a house of my own to do anything on my computer. Everybody is fighting over it over here so I get very little time to myself. Also, I can't really do much anyway as I finally found a job and I have to leave this house basically 10 minutes after I get off work and sleep in the car... Yeah, good times here.

Nice.

Abbey seems like a crazy dungeon. I'm probably going to take my High Priest there with an ME build to destroy things ... according to their boards, it sounds like the best place to level with such a character now (well I could stick to Anubis', but it gets boring and drops aren't that greet, lol).

Last night I rebirthed my Hunter and got to level 90 Sniper already. Did the good ol' Seals training, but now I'm fighting Medusa's in Beach Dungeon (0). Wish they had some kind of weakness though. They have really awesome drops. In all the training I've done there I've gotten about 1 million zenny.

I'll probably make a Merchant/Blacksmith for selling things.

I kind of want to make a Knight again and maybe an Assassin, but I dunno. Leveling Knight's seemed to get really steep in the later levels. Probably wouldn't be hard to get a SinX fairly fast on this server, but I want my Sniper to rock so I might just keep focusing on these two characters.

Where were you taking your Lord Knight?

Don't listen to them, Xeo, I happen to be on the server. A few RB's about 70~80 and the rest around 70~90. My main character, also my guild leader, is a Lvl 100 Lord Knight.

Good times.

However, I haven't played in about a month+...

You won't see me there. RO is a dead game. It was fun while it lasted, but the lack of new things to do is a major put off, and not a whole lot of people really play it anymore.
I have many qualms with the game, I'm just not going to post them right now.

That dungeon was made for parties, not for soloists... of course, it could've been edited there to make it even harder.

If anyone's curious about why I dislike higher caps, here's one demonstration: Str vs. Int.

As some of you know, the Str boost to Atk (and Dex, when you use ranged weapons) gets stronger with higher Str; while 10 gets you an extra 2 Atk, 100 gets something like 16 extra, on top of all the other 10-point bonuses and the basic Str boost. Int isn't so lucky. Int's boosts are for your minimum MAtk, IIRC, 5 every 7 points, and maximum MAtk, IIRC 7 every 5 points. It doesn't matter how much Int you have, the bonus doesn't change.

Or, exponential vs. linear growth, basically. Int gets screwed, as it's the linear one.
