But I did add to the conversation and thus the bump is allowable.

Erm, just kidding. Good job Leviathan, not so good job Elara, xD.

Hey Vulkar, it was Elara who bumped. Leviathan merely responded to Elara's bump.

And remember, this forum isn't exactly the most active of Xeogaming. The first page for example has posts as far back as 2006.

And either way, it's a fricking freaky topic that deserves some attention. Although my video's more disturbing, despite being from Little Britain.

As disturbing as that is, Leviathan, you seriously need to watch the bumping. Start looking at the dates before you post.

No.

Just....oh, god....no.

"Wow honey, your breast looks just like my mother's"....

*Sigh*

I've heard of breast-feeding continuing past 14. Yes....14.

And people say -i'm- fucked up...

I think I was breast fed but I am not sure and I do not want to ask. That said, I think that even going to age 4 is too long... I assume that women like the one in the video are what causes the average to be so high. But yeah, not normal.

In response to a comment made in that video, about them going into the big wide world and how it will stop them wanting to be breast fed...

Now, in seriousness, that other video is a bit creepy...

The kids sound breast obsessed.

But whatever.

As long as it doesn't harm the children or anyone around them, it doesn't seem like a bad thing. I don't think I was ever breast fed... Although it's never been something I've ever asked my mum about.

Hmmmm....Before I really assert an opinion, I guess I need to look up the effects there are to those who are not breast-fed.

I was never breast-fed. My sisters told me that they never breast-fed either. My younger sisters were never breast-fed. My aunt (my dad's sister) breast-fed her children though. I have some cousins that breast-feed their kids too. Funny thing is, my mother was really young when she had me. My sisters were young when they had their kids, and my sisters' mothers were very young when they were born as well. The aunt and cousins mentioned were all a little older when they started having children, about mid-twenties and up. Possibly that factors in which mothers decide to breast-feed too?

It's an interesting topic really, when you think about it. We live in an age where there are all sorts of baby formulas out there that are healthy for babies. Whether they are healthier or just as healthy is arguable. But, there was a time when breast-feeding was the only thing for infants. In 18th-19th century America, know why taverns and alcohol was so big? One of the reasons at least was because water wasn't so sanitary. It was healthier to drink alcohol. Now, with water being out of the question, and mothers being bound to their homes, I'm sure breast-feeding was more of a necessity back then.

I know that's not really touching on the whole "breast-feeding beyond infancy" thing...but I think people need to understand breast-feeding.

For now, my uneducated response to this specific topic and the video is..."Ewwww...."

The commonly-held belief is that children who nurse much longer than necessary become geniuses. Others say that these children also become intuitive and sensitive.

Other benefits include a close motherly bond, the child receives antibodies from the mother which has also led to the belief that nursing also helps fight off diabetes, respiratory problems, autoimmune thyroid diseased, obesity, SIDS, bacterial meningitis, celiac disease, and many, many other diseases, disorders and such.

Breast-feeding is also cost-effective. Not as much money spent on formula, although there are pumps and other expenses should mothers choose to utilize them.

Now with all this in mind, there is the thought that breast-feeding past the age of 5 also produces confused ideas of sexuality (specifically in little boys) and there has been some recent theories that breast-feeding increases the chances of breast cancer.

In nature, a mother only nurses until her offspring are able to feed themselves. Worldwide, the average weaning age is 4.

Do you feel that breast-feeding past age 5 is coddling a child? What are your thoughts?

P.S. Despite trying to keep an open-mind watching the above video, I couldn't help but feel slightly disturbed.

P.P.S. I have yet to find a solid source that states that breast-feeding increases I.Q. and I'm certainly not going to buy it as fact from sites that are all about breast-feeding. They're obviously going to stack the deck in their favor.
