No, certainly not, but I meant they're allike in that Jessica and Lucy, both being the aggressive personality, also have the power or are at least much more aware of it and know how to use it from the beginning. Both are killing machines that rip people apart whether it's necessary or not.
Nyu and Niki are the passive personalities that come out more when in the presence of Khota and Micah. Nyu is also somewhat unaware of Lucy as Niki was with Jessica, while the latter personalities are very aware of the other. So yeah. I don't know why I thought of that yesterday, but like you said there are many other multiple-personalitied characters out there. This just stuck me as funny. |

I gotta say I was a bit disturbed in the scene with Lucy's puppy with what those boys did to the poor thing. They thoroughly deserved what they got.
Anyway, I do agree about the ridiculous love triangle, more specifically the cousin, Yuka. What the hell was her damage? She seemed really nice at first, then she turned into this jealous heap really quickly. The other thing that was getting to me was how long and drawn out it all was. The series could probably be down in 6 or 7 episodes. Granted you wouldn't feel as deep an attachment to these characters, but hey if you're watching it detached like I mentioned you're not close with them anyway. On a final note, Nyu/Lucy is exactly like Niki/Jessica on Heroes. That is all. |

Nana was probably the only character I actually liked. The love triangle thing between the main character and his cousin (forget their names already!) and Nyu was just annoying. But yeah, this is definitely one you shouldn't go in with expecting to love some characters. |

Since I haven't really had the chance to sit down and watch an anime for the past 3 years or so, I burned through this series last night and all I can really say is that it's one funny black comedy.
It's rather in your face "Don't get attached to any of these characters." If you watch it completely detached it's just what I'd said above (although for some reason I kept worrying about something happening to the puppy). I'd seen the first episode when it was initially popping up fansubbed (via Junkie, of course) and I was really intrigued. I mean, I kinda go for the violent ones, but it was like Chobits meets Kite or something much harder. Anyway, it's not the greatest series, no, but it's worth the watching if not just for the mindfuck of diclonius split personalities. |

I saw a few episodes and it was neat, but I don't know, I was kind of disconnected from it afterwards and didn't intend to watch it again.
But it definitely had gore to keep me interested. |

Yeah, I just think the praise it gets is really blown out of proportion. It was decent, but give me a year or so I probably won't care to remember it at all. |

I watched it all at a friends house one weekend, and honestly, I didn't mind it. It was an okay anime, but alot of the reused scenes, plot holes, and (one of my huge anime pet peeves) the completely wrong "scientific" data got to me. I don't really judge an anime on it's seriousness/gore/comedy, so that never really bugged me, but like Xeo said, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, because there are so many better choices. |

I thought it was an interesting anime to be honest. Pretty messed up, but interesting. I didn't get to see every episode though, so I don't know how it ends. The opening theme however is one of the best songs ever. |

Finished it. Not absolutely terrible or anything, but I don't think I could ever bring myself to recommend this to anyone really. Had a few interesting characters, but ... I guess this one just wasn't for me. |

Yeah. I've really been desensitized with violence thanks to the media, movies, anime and whatnot. While the intense gore and blood here doesn't 'really' bother me or make me cringe, I can still say it's pretty damn over the top and people aren't going to like it. Considering it's art style and character designs, I think it's just too much, which kind of goes in with my arguement in the first post. It's like two anime's in one. Just a warning I guess, don't get attached to the characters here no matter how "cute" they may look. |

Several of my friends had really enjoyed this anime, but I have yet to watch it. EXTREME amounts Gore tends to bug me in animes, but I plan to watch it (or at least read it) someday.
Elfen Lied is famous for it's huge amounts of blood and nudity, it would definitely get me used to the whole psychological thriller genre. The anime forum seriously needs more activity. Thats why I originally joined xeogaming! |

Hmm, I'm honestly not caring for this anime so far. I'm on episode 5 and I keep feeling like I'm forcing myself to continue watching it. This show is just hyped beyond belief, so I was really going into it with high expectations I guess ...
Basically, when I want a comedy, I want a comedy. When I want a serious anime, I want a serious anime. This anime so far, feels like two completely different anime's wrongly jumbled up into one. You've got this cute "Nyu!" crap here and there, then limbs flying off and ripping apart on the other side. Bleh? Well, the anime forum needs more activety. So yell at my thoughts so far if you will. |
