I like the trailer, it looks like it'll be very enjoyable. (so cute)

Went to the screening last night. I liked it a lot. Thought it was really cute.
The little girl (yes, girl) who plays Stephen Chow's son is really good. She's very expressive and sweet. I warn you, though, if you're expecting another Shaolin Soccer or Kung Fu Hustle, you may be disappointed. It's a good movie, but it's a different sort of movie. Seeing CJ7 expecting it to center around Stephen Chow, martial arts, or anything like that, you'd be in the same boat with the Kevin Smith fans who went to see Jersey Girl thinking Jay and Silent Bob were going to jump out of nowhere with dick and weed jokes. |

It seems to be a sci-fi comedy about a single father who's trying to give his son what he can, but ends up getting a bit of help from an alien. I'm digging the nods toward Kung Fu Hustle in some of the scenes (i.e. the boy doing the Buddhist Palm move with the clouds forming into the CJ7 before falling back to earth). Giant Robot's doing a preview screening on Wednesday with Stephen Chow doing a Q&A afterwards. My friend and I are planning on going. |
