Right, so my oldest sister immediately called me upon seeing the trailer and told her that I HAD to go over her house.

So...I get there, and she's sitting on the couch with the VCR remote in her hand and says "Watch this."

Right, so, I sit down...and there I am...like...really fricken little...like...before I was an aunt little...like...back when I only had ONE younger sister little...(K, so I was like 3, haha) and there's my teenage older sister and her friends going "C'mon, do it for the camera!"

And...I sigh...and out of nowhere, comes a 3-year-old's rendition of the famous Rambo thing where he's running from explosives...you know, with the pack of bullets strung around him.

Point is, been a Rambo fan since I was really little apparently.

Yet, I procrastinated to see this movie. Why? Because I was afraid it was going to be a damper on something that I have thought so great for such a long time...ended up seeing it with teh boyfriend though, (though my sister made me promise to see "Son of Rambo" with her..."That was you!" She had claimed. "You and your little kid friends with the video camera. Tried doing that shit all the time!" See the other thread for discussion of that one. ) But anywho...I was kinda worried that this movie was just really taking something that was once cool, and making it worse by thinking that better graphics and technology in film will make it better.

Then it sunk in. This is a Silvester Stallone flick. Even if it sucked, it seemed like something that he was simply just saying "Screw you guys. If you don't like it, oh well. I'M not happy with the endings, and I want to bring MY films to a satisfying close" <---don't fuss FX, I was being general here. Teehee.

But anywho...Yeah, this is long, but like teh Boss, this movie just struck me in so many ways. I'm soooo glad I experienced it in a theater, rather than waiting for it to come out on DVD.

And why does it have to be MANly? Hmmm? Hmmm?

:p

I actually just saw all of them recently, within the last few weeks or so. If you can enjoy good ol' 80's action flicks that aren't "too" cheesy (Arnold's Commando comes to mind), they're defintely great movies. I got the soundtrack to the first two and they're pretty epic.

I might be seeing it soon. We get movies 400 years after everyone else. Just recently How Green Was My Valley just came in to theaters!

I love Rambo. I think they're powerful movies, dunno why. The OST's are incredibly good too (listening to First Blood now. I can't believe how much of a tear jerker 'Coming Home' is).

I suspect I could easily get killed, but...

I don't like Rambo...and I'm not watching the next one.

Thee. Manliest. Movie. Ever.

Seriously folks, I loved it! I was neglecting it for awhile, thinking it was a bit unecessary but I just kept hearing great things about it, I went in and left more satisfied than ever before. It's been a long time since I walked out of a movie theater that happy.

I do NOT recommend this movie at all for those who have not seen at least the original First Blood, also Part 2 is really good in my opinion too. You will miss out on some very powerful/emotional scenes and whatnot if you go in without having seen the previous movies.

Stallone, despite his age, fit the role absolutely perfectly again. He was a God among men and to be feared (anyone who's seen the second movie can probably agree with me in saying that not even the Predator would stand a chance against Rambo in the jungle).

The music was very good too and I loved how they re-used themes throughout:

Though, yeah. The gore is insane. It is a bit over the top but, it's not as silly as I thought it'd be from the trailers. It was just ... intense. Not for the faint of heart.

Spoiler:
The ending is incredible. I thought for sure that he was going to die, but what they did was way awesome. I also thought the flashback to the first two movies (well I didn't see 3 in there, lols) was very powerful too. I'm assuming they did that to get some of the good ol' Colonel in there. Man, yeah it's like a nonstop manly action flick, but I thought it had some great moments, just like the first two movies.

Very worthy of its title.
