They suck. Big time.

Mysterio & Lizard would rock so much.

Actually, they have Lizard in the SM3 game. So if they have the games be continuitious (that is so a word) with the movies, they can't use him. Same with Mysterio.

However FX, Sandman is a good guy. He is a crook, but for the better reasons. Also, he has helped Spidey a couple times, and even joined the Avengers.

The movie, I liked it, but it was a little overdone. I think they shoulda had Spidey with the suit throughout the movie, have him beat the other two villains as "evil" Spidey, kill Harry, realize his mistakes, take off the suit, and finish the movie with a teaser of Venom being born.

They took their masks off too much.

Too much crying.

Marko killed Uncle Ben?

Mary Jane was pretty bitchy,

Etc.

Despite this stuff, I still enjoyed it. There were funny moments too. For Spider-Man 4 they have to use Doc Conners and throw in the Lizard already. Jeez.

I have a massive rant about the movie that I don't feel like doing now. (Seriously, I wish I had brought a notebook into the movie so I could keep track of all the things that pissed me off). But for some reason I feel like responding to something Shuyin said.

EDIT: I guess I did end up ranting, so I'm gonna say this now: SPOILERS AHEAD. So don't blame me.

They could have done the same as the comics. Basically lapsing in and out of Goblinhood (during which the third Goblin arrives, and is killled by Harry) until he kills himself with a more powerful Goblin serum.

And the Green Goblin is by far one of Spidey's greatest nemesis..es.

And there will be no Carnage, because the director doesn't like him or something like that. Besides, I'd love to see the Sinister Six, even though it's not possible now, and would take like a 3 hour movie (Sinister SIx is the team up of Doc Ock, Vulture, Electro, Kraven, Mysterio and Sandman. Hobgoblin takes Kraven's place after he kills himself).

But really, it's bugging me the way they are making all of the badguys really be goodguys. Sandman is supposed to be a THUG, not a father.

They really don't have to kill every villain. I mean, they CAPTURE them. That's why the when they accidentally kill a villain it's a big deal. Yet 3 times in a row, the bad guy has died. They've turned Spidey into a real murderer.

As for Sandman's 'origin' they were apparently doing demolecularization tests... on sand. Why demolecularize sand? How about concrete? And if they were doing said demolecularizing, it obviously didn't work, because it did the exact opposite: it fuzed the molecules together. If they were really doing demolecularizing, he'd have just... died. And why did that gorram necklace survive? He also managed to keep hold of it when he was completely torn apart in the water flow? Sense, that does not make. It also seemed to magically appear in his hands once or twice. And what was with that insane form of flight he did? Turning into a cloud of dust and floating thoughout the city? He cannot control the wind. And why, when he was the giant, did he randomly collapse when the Second Green Goblin (I refuse to call him "New Goblin") hit him with the missiles?

Onto the topic of the Second Green Goblin: I didn't care for him. I thought Franco was great at the part (not as good as DaFoe), but what did he do to the glider? A snowboard? Come on. I know the serum makes him smarter, but that doesn't mean he can make a new glider, especially one that defies physics. The board is like, 2 or 3 inches thick, and he pulls out 6 inch thick pumpkin bombs. What the hell?

Finally (I hope), Venom. I was really disappointed with the way he spoke, but I thought Topher Grace was a good Eddie Brock (lol, Edward Brock Jr. I loved the way he always called himself that). The problem with doing the symbiote suid and Venom, is that you can't give each of them enough time, since they can't exist at the same time. What they should have done is focused 3 on the suit, 4 on Venom.

Onto the suit. They left out all the visible things that made it awesome. Sure he can say it makes him feel faster, stronger, better (We have the technology), but that doesn't do much for the audience. The things they left out is that he doesn't take the mask off, it melts off (like Venom did). Also, he never takes the suit off, that's part of the bonding thing. It actually morphs into his clothes (when he first discovers this ability, he turns it into a nice suit). Although that may have looked strange on film. And the way it lands. Meteor hits, oh, hey symbiote. To quote Wikipedia, here is the real origin:

When Spider-Man touches the liquid, it covers his body and, reacting to Spider-Man's thoughts about the costume worn by the second Spider-Woman, forms a new costume. To Spider-Man's surprise, the costume can mimic street clothes and provides a seemingly inexhaustible and stronger supply of webbing.

Obviously, that is too complex for a 2 hour movie, but they could have gone with the alternate, where J. Jonah Jameson's son brings it back from Mars. I mean, the character is already introduced from 2 (the dude MJ was going to marry), how hard would that be?

That's all for now, I'll probably rant more later.

Disappointed? Yes. Unimpressed? No. I thought it was a great movie, just with a bit too much shoved into it, and not enonugh Venom. And there were some problems with Venom as well.

1. Hardly any tounge
2. No, "We," when Venom spoke.
3 Whenever he did speak, the symbiote went back from Brock's face.

Best part by far was when Harry arrived and saved Pete's ass.
-Pete: You came!
-(Me): SO DID I.

I saw it opening day but haven't really had the chance to get online since then. I thought it was really good. Also I completely agree with what Xeo said in his first post about Venom.

I just saw it, and it was awesome.

The final dialog with the Sandman was great, as were a lot of other things about the movie, especially how they handled Harry Osborn.

The things I didn't like about it though was that it had too much dancing. Seriously, three or four songs where the characters danced? That was a bit excessive.

I do with that Venom's mask stayed on a bit more though. His mask was cool, his character's face was not. I think it could have been a lot cooler if his mask stayed on.

Overall though, I really liked it.

For the record, the most dangerous enemy Spidey has faced (excluding anyone he faced while "cosmic") is totally Doctor Doom. Although, that has rarely ever happened, thus doesn't count ... yeah. Just saying. The issue I read where he did fight him, he didn't land anything. He threw a big table thing at him, and Doom knocked it aside with his fingers like it was fluff! Only reason Spidey lived because he struck a deal with Doom.

Yeah...I meant biggest as his most formidable adversary. Like Lex Luther to Superman.

If Venom doesn't say, "we" and "us" when talking about himself and the Symbiote
than it is just not Venom. And I disagree with Venom being his biggest enemy
next to Doc Oc. The Doc is a huge enemy of Spidermans yes, but his two most
dangerous enemies EVER were by far Venom and Carnage.

Come on, super strong beings that his spider sense CAN'T PICK UP ON!!!

And Carnage is by far th emost dangerous enemy he ever had. But that's a
discussion for another time. I haven't seen this movie yet but I want to even though
I'm positive it's going to annoy me.

The first one was the best. There's something "magical" about the first movie in any trillogy.

But yeah, as far as trying to incorporate Carnage, and having to make things up...I'd prefer that. And C'mon. Venom's death was WAY too cheesy...he's coming back somehow.

But yeah...Like books, movies, comics...anything...if you can't make it EXACTLY as the original, then I'd rather them do just the opposite, ya know? I mean, using Spiderman for example, keeping a lot of the actual comics in mind is ALWAYS a must. But that's just it. I'm more appreciative when the original creator and the director/producers get together to collaborate, but still allow it to stand on its own. Making compairsons will only cause disappointment.

Or superhero movies wise, Fantastic Four 2! I know the first one was medicore (not as bad as Catwomen, The Hulk, or anything though), but the next one looks amazing so far. And ... Silver Surfer.

But yeah, overall Spiderman 3 is the 'worst' of the three for me. Not bad, but I'd take the first two over it anyday.

Yea, except they'd have to make something up if they wanted carnage to be the villan in the next one. simply because Carnage comes from Venom, and as you saw Venom was blown up.

This movie was disappointing. I liked it, but it was over-done, over-acted, and generally not that great. Sure, it doesn't make sense for them to not kill Venom, but it was stupid to actually do it. I'm waiting for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. That movie will be epic.

4th movie = Carnage

This is like ALL we talk about in work and has turned into ALL I talk about outside of work. But seriously...I don't have anything to back it up yet, other than the fact that co-workers have told me...but it does sound like a good idea to me.

Spider-Man/FF4 would keep true to the comics. Spider-Man, after getting his powers, says he wants to join the FF. Furthermore, it was with the help of the FF that Peter got the Symbiote off of him. (I like my Spider-Man a lot)

Venom doesn't refer to himself as "we"? Aw man, this is sounding worse by the post. I bet I'll still like him though, just because he'll still probably be pretty rad.

I saw it and enjoyed it a lot....

the one thing about Venom that I didn't like was that he didn't call himself "us" or "we" like the cartoon did. I preferred that about Venom. Plus the voice wasn't great.

and something else I would love would be a crossover with some of the other current superhero series. Maybe a fantastic 4 mix with spiderman or something. Might be hard to do depending on which ones are used but I'd love to see it done

I haven't seen it, but yeah, Eddie Brock is already a bulky guy. To have Topher play him isn't really staying true. Also, he keeps his normal voice? Isn't he supposed to gain a much more evil sounding voice when as Venom?

EDIT: Oh yeah, I just wanna say that we totally need the following villains before this series finally dies.

Thuggy Villains, the villains that are there to antogonize Spider-Man, but are not the main threat of the movie:

-Mysterio. They can whore special effects with this guy. Since he does shit like "transport" Spidey to the top of a "mountain" where he is confronted by a "dragon")
-Lizard. You got Doctor Connors. So. Run with it.
-Scorpion. He's pretty rad.
-Kraven the Hunter. Oh man, you just gotta.

Main Villains, villains who the movie can revolve around.

-Lizard. They can pull it off, Connors is a main dude.
-Chameleon. He may not be as ultra as some, but he has power. Like Kingpin, but neater.
-Carnage? Though Venom is better.

I'll admit I didn't make this thread because I was too lazy.

I'M POSTING SPOILERS WITHOUT A TAG. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE MOVIE, DON'T READ MY RANT/RAVE.

Okay... so.. First off: I didn't hate the movie. I liked it most of the time. However was nowhere near as good as the 2nd one. They took the comic relief here and there from the 2nd one and overdid it in this one. This was supposed to be the darkest, but at times it's like they forgot that.

James Franco did an amazing job as Harry. I didn't expect him to become my favorite character. They made the New Goblin into a sort of cyborg ninja. So it hit a rather soft spot.

Sandman was done well too. Except they did a TERRIBLE job of explaining how he got his powers. He falls into a hole. And scientists just randomly decide to turn on a demolecularizer? So they just decided to demoleculalize nothing and Flint just ended up at the wrong spot. I'm supposed to buy that? The special effects were great though.

Venom should not have been in this movie. Venom is probably Spiderman's biggest enemy next to Dr. Octopus. So what do they do? Throw him in the last half hour? Venom's character needs his own movie. They didn't even come close to doing him justice. I don't even think they casted him well. Sure acted the script perfectly, but I felt like they made Justin Timberlake Venom. Venom is a bulky guy by default. He doesn't just gain muscles (from what I remember). When venom would screech like a raptor, I liked it. But when he spoke and kept the same high pitched voice, it killed it for me.

Turning Peter Parker into Connor Oberst was a bad idea in my opinion. I didn't find his whole strut funny. Or even any of those scenes.

But oh mygod. The fight in the mansion. Beautiful. Some of the dialogue was a bit over the top. But the ending gave me goosebumps. "You want forgiveness? Turn to Religion" Great quote. And the way he mamed Harry, my favorite part of the movie.

The symbolism of Harry getting killed by his own weapon like his father was a little corny, but necessary. Him jumping in the way of Peter I felt was cheesy too. But they had to kill him somehow.
