That was so amazing in IMAX 3D. My third favorite 3D movie, actually.

I'm super excited for Capaldi. I was actually glad to see Smith go, I felt I'd had enough of him, but as his final day draws closer, I find myself growing nostalgic already.

We don't, but San Francisco has plenty of cool arthouse theaters. I particularly love the Castro Theater. I go there all the time, great place.

Saber, foil or epee?

I do saber, although I've done foil and a tiny bit of epee. Saber is where my heart lives. Such fantastic swashbuckling action. And I referee, too. I love the grammar of right-of-way and deconstructing it.

Elara, epee is the style of fencing based around the [REMOVED]. In epee fencing the entire body is a valid target, as opposed to restricted regions, and only allows touches with the tip of the sword. It also has no rules of right-of-way, or priority, to determine who gets a point if both fencers make a touch in a brief span of time. Instead epee allows for both fencers to get the point, which drastically changes the strategy compared to the other styles.

Also, I did archery last semester. It was alright, got a bit repetitive after a while. I miss the mental play and variety that comes with sparring.

I understand that.

I recommend checking out fencing, it's a great sport. I obviously recommend saber (everything above the waist is target, and you can use the edge of the blade), but foil is a great place to start (torso and crotch is target, only use the point), since everything from it can be transitioned into either saber or epee.

Vulkar, I haven't done any competitions, but I did take the test to become an official director. Sorry, referee *groans*

Elara, I'm not sure if there's one that's significantly better for a bad back, no. I personally have back issues and it doesn't cause a problem when saber fencing. Saber tends to be faster paced, so I suppose it may be slightly more high-impact? Also, epee has a narrower stance, without having to settle as low, since the legs are a target area.

FX, well, Epee you still have to get a little lower, if only because you still need to if you want a good lunge, but it might also just be because I'm really tall, so I have to if I want to keep myself at a decent level with my opponents.

In my brief experience it was feet closer together, and knees tucked in.

I read that as "all my parts." Like, the different parts of your body. Like some sort of fucked up Voltron.

As for Clara, I'm fine with the actress and her performance, but the way she's written she just sands around doing nothing. Not to mention that she apparently has cried in half her episodes. I really liked the first two versions we met of her. They were smart, on top of things, and proactive. This one is just bland as hell.

I'm interested, although it feels more like a wild west LARP than something actually set in the time period.

I just finished reading an ARC of Christopher Moore's new novel The Serpent of Venice. It's his sequel to Fool, which is King Lear from the jester's perspective, and is an utterly fantastic read. Moore is an author capable of having practically every other line of prose elicit at least a chuckle, while still having incredibly deep and engrossing plots and characters. Serpent follows the same fool, but this time throws him into a story that is both Merchant of Venice, Othello, and a Poe story thrown in for good measure.

Now I'm going to start digging into The Honorable Schoolboy, sequel to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
