Really, Koreans are definitely gaining ground in the U.S. what with the increasing number of Korean barbecue places here in SoCal and the people actually blasting PSY songs, along with other K-pop stars.

At the Bellflower library (I owe Cerritos $20, so I haven't really been going there these days), there's the Manga Club for pre-teens. And that's about it.

I've considered joining one of their book clubs, but it's either young adults or senior citizens.

Can't there be a group that reads classics and talks about them like we did in high school? I feel like talking an English course over at the community college just so I can have some intelligent discourse with a professor about literature with substance.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I went out to one of the dollar bookstores today (sadly the one near Lakewood Mall is no more, so I ended up at the Pike's secondhand shop where it was a crapshoot whether or not the book you were holding was $1, $5, or possibly more. It's stupid).

Anyway, I've picked up:
"The War of Don Emmanuel's Nether Parts" by Louis de Berniere
"Typhoon and Other Tales" by Joseph Conrad
"Paradise Lost & Paradise Regained" by John Milton
"Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" translated from old English
"The Bacchae and Other Plays" by Euripides
And lastly an interlinear translation of Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales"

I never end up going into one of those bookstores and finding anything I was specifically there seeking, particularly anything I've been cruising Amazon for. But all the same I usually end up walking out with an armful of impulse buys.

Anyway, I've got way too many books these days and I've barely read half of them. Doesn't help that I usually end up getting a ton of things through the library every week that I usually make top priority.

Welcome back, doll.

Annoyingly enough, checking my Photobucket (October's pretty much the only time of year I use it), I'm seeing some of the gifs have already begun to be taken down for TOS violations when it's all been set to private. Meh. Will just have to re-upload them and find more.

*Looks around* There've been a lot of vets returning over the last couple days. They must have known it was your birth-iversary.

Take the whole weekend, Xeo man.

Congratulations! Hope it's going great if you've started at the new place already.

Was at a wedding this weekend. Couldn't check anything since the hotel charges $10/day to use their WiFi.

Had the flu today. Got it from Brandon who started having the symptoms this morning, after my parents were apparently suffering it on Sunday. Been throwing up several times today and feeling achy.

Nov. 1, when our local library is doing free flu shots, can't come soon enough.

Currently reading a collection of sagas. Read "Kormak's Saga," "The Saga of Hallfred Troublesome-Poet," and "The Saga of Gunnlaug Serpent-Tongue." I'm in the middle of "The Saga of Bjorn, Champion of the Hitardal People."

After reading other sagas, particularly Snorri's guide for skalds to write their poetry, I'm starting to catch inaccuracies in their interpretations. It's hilarious. Screw you, Penguin Classics.

Also reading "California" by Edan Lepucki for no reason other than I'd sort of heard of the author and this was the only book of hers the library had. Should probably finish it now since it's got a waiting list.

I've got so many books in from Amazon, as well.

With how many books I buy and just have stacked in my room and on overcrowded shelves, I'm not surprised to discover the Japanese have a word for me.

For the most part, I rarely like champagne. It's usually more bitter than sweet to me. Maybe people are just giving me shit brands? I dunno. I will say, though, that I vastly prefer drinking things like Stella Rosa (as cheap as it comes off) because it actually tastes good.

But then Barefoot actually has a bubbly I kinda like as well.

Haha, a Korbel ad just came on.

Have you ever had sex with your dog or cat in the room, and did they react to what's going on?

Supposedly, the official autopsy has leaked to the press saying that evidence shows it's more likely that Michael Brown was, indeed, reaching for the officer's gun.
