Fuck expecting house guests and trying to rush to get the house clean and then getting a phone call the day before they were supposed to arrive (while everyone's either at work or busy as fuck) from these people saying their bus is about 30 minutes away.
WHAT THE FUCK?! They're my mom's cousin and husband who are visiting from the Philippines, who were visiting other family in Las Vegas (they ended up there for a few weeks since it turns out they took the husband to the hospital and they found a shadow on his lung). They arrived yesterday and we've got to play host to them for the next few days. Anyway, took them out to dinner last night at a just-a-cut-above-being-fast-food restaurant for soup, salad, and pasta and the cousin suddenly goes, "It's his birthday," pointing to her husband. Had we known we could have taken him some place nicer. This is a freaking nightmare. They went to Disneyland today. I hope they don't freak out when they realize it's $90/ticket now. It's just Brandon and me with them tomorrow and I'm not sure where to take them. God, they're going to want to go to Hollywood, aren't they? FUCK!! |

That's lame. I know I'm a total lame ass, but yeah... Well, yesterday was our day to really take them out and show them around since Brandon and I are headed up to San Francisco this weekend to move Lee's things out of his storage unit. Spent Thursday night planning where to take them, in what order, and mapping it all out. Friday morning, Brandon explains it all to them and they go, "We were more thinking that Universal place." Cue up the RIDICULOUS LEVEL OF FUCKERY THIS INVOLVED. Had to drop them off in Universal City and explain to them how to get to the park from the drop-off point. Then we ended up having to hang around L.A. all day anyway rather than waste the gas to go home all the way home. This in and of itself produces a comedy of errors (that no one in their right mind would find funny), which included being hen-pecked by people visiting from New York whining that "Levitated Mass" wasn't open yet, eating lunch at the California Science Center and having summer camp after summer camp of kids cutting in front of us for everything, and watching a seagull trapped in the tar at the La Brea Tar Pits die a slow agonizing death as it tried to fly out to no avail. The docents at the Page Museum said it was too dangerous to try to save it so it would just have to die there. Just... fuck it all. Anyway, we had to also pick my dad up from work (near Fullerton) at 5 p.m., which would involve trying to get the people out of Universal by 3 or 3:30. They decide not to answer their phone until almost 5. And of course there's traffic. It's at a crawl and the house guests are repeatedly asking why we're not moving. Didn't get my dad until 7, get home and mom has thawed some salmon for dinner, which even my dad is not thrilled about. Woohoo, dry, stinky salmon with skin and bones that make my perpetually sore throat feel like it's constricting more just to get it down. Yeah, all that above this line? FUCK IT!!! FUCK IT ALL, I SAID! I wish the ground would open and swallow all of that fuckery right now. (Last edited by Rogue on 06-23-12 08:15 AM) |

Yeah, that's pretty much what I told myself.
Fuck that I'm STILL sick. I've been in San Francisco this weekend helping Stitch move stuff out of his storage unit, but we've also been sight-seeing and hanging around the gay pride festivities. Fuck that the vast majority of people who go to pride up here (since it's free and spans multiple city blocks) are straight teenagers hanging around in their underwear just there to party, drink, do drugs, and make-out. Fuck that on the BART heading back to my friend's house these girls, passing a PBR back and forth, sat behind Brandon and me on a VERY crowded train, making fun of the lesbians they saw at the parade. Then when this tinkerbell gay boy sat on one of their laps, they kept talking about all sorts of racist shit, particularly that it's not fair how they're discriminated as white people because the "cotton-pickers" don't want them to say "nigger" or "nigga." This conversation was followed by the gay boy literally SHOUTING in my ear about how the last penis he saw was so gorgeous he needed to kiss it, but the possessor of said man-lollipop went, "No suck it, bitch!" The girls then started going on about what kind of penises they like and how they love "crispy dick," but would never go for black cock. I know this was all meant to shock the rest of us (since that's what teenagers seem to think they can do well), but really it all just sounds immature and annoying. At least I've been having fun otherwise. (Last edited by Rogue on 06-26-12 03:54 AM) |

It's over. It was just a preliminary trial, but they took a deal (he gets three years in state prison, she gets two years locally) and pleaded no contest.
I actually feel bad for the girl. This is her first offense (his third) and she just had that baby. She made a bad decision and it's going to cost her seeing her newborn child, for whom she was probably doing this out of desperation. Him, I don't feel anything for. She just happened to get with the wrong person. |

I sort of heard second or third-hand that they weren't together any more and the baby is being taken care of by her parents. My dad said he saw her mom crying in the back.
We were told this was his second strike, and that he would get 10 years (really the max he could have gotten was 8), but since they took the deal he's getting 3 years and he has to serve 80%. I know one of his prior convictions was carjacking, but I don't know what the other was (the prosecutor was reading the charges and mentioned offenses on certain dates but didn't say what they were). Kind of thought it was funny when the guy's defense attorney yelled at him a couple times for not paying attention when the prosecutor (this cool, young woman who couldn't have been much older than I) was talking. I was up in San Francisco Saturday and Sunday helping Stitch move all of his stuff out of a storage unit he had up there. Hung around the gay pride festivities for a bit and did some sightseeing, before driving through Sunday night into Monday afternoon back down to Paramount in a U-Haul.
Then spent Monday moving all of his stuff out of his other storage unit down here and moving both loads into a new, larger unit. So much grunt work. I'm still sick and Tuesday was pretty much just spent trying to nurse my sore throat. And yesterday was almost entirely spent at the courthouse waiting for the preliminary hearing to start and watching it. I think I'm finally mentally there again. |

No really big manipulations lately.
This picture of my grandmother is actually a composite: I took this shot of her eating her birthday cake, but the face was blurry. I took a different picture of her where her face was clearer and added it to the other. Really, I just tried to make it so it still looks like an average snapshot so it didn't look too overdone and like an obvious piece I cooked up in Photoshop. |

Here are the source images:
I'm still quite a novice at this. In the finished one, it makes her head looker bigger than it is. (Last edited by Rogue on 06-29-12 12:59 AM) |

Finally getting around to finishing the "Y: The Last Man" series. I borrowed the last six books from a girl in my capstone American Studies class a year ago and she's been asking for them back.

Talk about useless information
Apparently Earth is moving just a tad slower than usual, so we're getting the extra second to compensate. |

Yep, it was last night. Instead of the clock going 11:59:59 then 12:00:00, it turned 11:59:60.
I wasted my extra second sleeping. |

Huh. I guess I never mentioned going to see "The Hunger Games." I'll briefly go over that, I guess.
I dug the books, and the movie was good, but since the books are written from Katniss' first person perspective I can understand why many things don't translate on the screen or needed to be displayed differently. Everything is basically her thoughts and she doesn't really vocalize much. So yeah, book was better than movie, I'm thrilled to find out who's playing who in the sequels, and I'm looking forward to seeing THG again when it hits the cheap theater. |

Having an awesome weekend going to see some really cool museum exhibits with my parents (it's impossible getting my dad to do these things these days), going to the pirate festival to see my favorite pirate band, watching a Shakespeare play with a plate of cheese, a loaf of fresh bread, and a big bottle of cider, saw a lot of random stuff, and just had fun. Well, now all that's left for us is the restitution hearing in August. Thankfully, we heard both the guy and girl waive their right to be there.
I don't think we're getting anything out of this, since there's no way to prove what else they took outside of the table. Still, it would be best to not inform my aunt who would want to be there and on hearing how much my not-all-there grandmother would be collecting, would then scheme to get it and gamble it away. |

Finished Y: The Last Man. It had such an unsatisfying ending, but that's life, huh?
I started trying to read a PDF of Fifty Shades of Grey, noticed it was in first person, went, "Ew..." and deleted my copy of the file. Ugh... |

Woke up this morning with "Break on Through to the Other Side" stuck in my head, and while scrolling through Facebook noticed a post from an L.A. blog about it being the 41st anniversary of the death of Morrison.
Freaky. Anyway, here's me with his grave from 9 years ago. |
