| The Lakers actually put out a commercial following the game, "Celebrate with dignity," telling people to not get too crazy.

And this is OKGo's new video, which came out earlier this week: Since it was shot in Echo Park (hipster territory), a lot of L.A. blogs are predicting there will now be a ton of hipsters hanging around there making their own versions of the video. Either way, good stuff.  |

He can't even relate to his spoiled 16-year-old sister who's a whole 'nother generation down, but they still talk whenever they see each other. Anyway... I don't think you should do this Breakthroughs thing. These lifestyle seminars RARELY work, at least not permanently. BUT, I strongly believe you should talk to your sister. When your parents are gone, it'll just be the two of you. And hey, life is short. Before you know it, you'll be moving away from each other, getting on with your own lives, maybe seeing one another at Christmas or Thanksgiving. You don't HAVE to go camping or do bullshit trust exercises, catching each other as you fall back and so on. But I really think you should at least say what you wrote above. And while you're at it, why don't you get to know her boyfriend too? |

I felt like I knew a lot about comics, and then a couple years ago, I spent the summer hanging out in the library reading graphic novels and I felt PUMPED going into Comic-Con the next month. Feels like there's always more to know about, though. I think those guys might just be looking in the wrong places, because every con I've been to is PACKED with geek/nerd girls. In fact, it's seems like every year there's more and more of them. It's always funny to me when fanboys, movies, shows, society, etc make jokes about the lack of women in the geek world. "Ohhhhh, a girl!! I'm scared." They even made that joke when I guested on the comics talk radio show at my university. Anyway... it's funny to me because it's just so wrong, at least here in Southern California, hell Cali in general. |

Just got back after spending the day wandering about Los Angeles, and then watching a Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer concert. Where were we? 1. What time did you get up this morning - 7:30. I wanted to sleep 'til 10 (since I never do), but the people working on the house were extra loud moving bricks. Also, had to get ready for the day. 2. How do you like your steak? - I don't like steak, but if it's all there is then medium rare. 3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema? - Saw Alice in Wonderland at a cheap theater a couple days ago, before that it was Iron Man 2 when it came out. 4. What is your favorite TV show? - There's too many to list (mostly shows that were canceled or have ended already), but of what's currently on the air, probably either House or Mythbusters. 5. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? - In a villa overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. 6. What did you have for breakfast? - Broccoli cheddar soup with a baguette followed by strawberries dipped in Nutella. 7. What is your favorite cuisine? - Greek and Chinese. 8. What foods do you dislike? - Pickles, mussels, clams, and a lot of Indian food. 9. Favorite Place to Eat? - Phoenix, Arizona. Soooo much good food in that state. 10. Today I bought a crate of blueberries while wandering around Koreatown, but last week I bought elf ears and a couple days ago I bought Mexican pulp comics. 21. Oddest item near you? - Either cardboard Wolverine claws, a jar of Nutella, a whole bunch of 3D glasses, or an Italian rapier. All of these things are about the same distance away. 22. Bird watcher? - Not really. If I see a pretty bird on a hike or something, I'll stop and look at it. 23. Are you a morning person or a night person? - Both, actually. 24. Pets? - Two cats: Miko and Tiki. 25. Any new and exciting news you'd like to share? - I'm stoked. Just found out this book series I loved in middle school has two more sequels I didn't know about. Bought them off Amazon for a penny each. 26. What did you want to be when you were little? - A marine biologist. 27. What is your best childhood memory? - Best? Going to Hawaii a few times with my parents. 28. Are you a cat or dog person? - Both, but I've got cats and they're easier to maintain, so I get looped in with the cat people. 29. Any pet peeves? - A few: people who bitch about things they get for free, massive crowds, people repeating themselves way too often, and people obviously trying to bullshit me. 33. Cave exploring, going to a backyard pagan barbecue in Hollywood, just driving to different places in the middle of the night out of muscle memory. 41. Like your job? - Right now, on break, but I used to love interviewing random people and writing about them. 42. Broccoli? - If it's served in a creamy soup, DEFINITELY. 43. What was your favorite vacation? - Too many to choose. Probably one of the recent trips to either the Bay Area or Arizona. 44. Last person you went out to dinner with? - Brandon. 45. The other thing was a friend doing his stand-up philosophy act in Hollywood. 49. What time is it? - 2:20 a.m. PST. 50. Coffee Drinker? - Had three iced hazelnut lattes today. But otherwise, yeah. |

| I think I'd actually love a live action Ranma movie, especially if it were Japanese-made.
And frankly, as I read over my list of hypotheticals again, I actually thought many of those things could be in the process of being optioned as I write this. I could see a Carmen Sandiego movie being greenlit in a hot second. |

Found a discarded copy of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" in a donation box outside a used book store and am going through it while I ride the trains around town. Otherwise, I've been reading the odd graphic novels again. Finished the last Fables book a few days ago, and I'm just going through comics I've bought or picked up for free but haven't read yet. Good stuff. |
