Here's a pic of my mom and me from when I was 15. I don't have a scanner, so I just took a picture of it (hence the shine  ).
For years people would make comments that I look a lot like my mom and I didn't really believe them thinking they were just saying that to be nice or whatever. Then we took these pictures (the flash REALLY washed out our skin color) and I saw the similarities for the first time. Now when people make comments about how it looks like I'm adopted or whatever to be hateful I tell 'em to shove it.

| Most are outstanding people, and I read a lot of furry comics. Hell, everyone to some degree is into anthro (what the hell do you call TMNT, Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, etc)? Being open to Native American, pagan, and Eastern religions, I can even believe that some people feel that they have an animal spirit.
But some people take it WAY TOO FAR. Like pissing and vomiting on someone in a fur suit and licking it up. Ugh... What's an obsolete piece of technology that you own (rotary phone, record player, laserdisc player, etc)? |

| Since most people can't gauge how big the BP's oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico is, this company in Michigan created this map where you can set your hometown as the point of origin of the spill. This allows you to see how big it is in areas you're familiar.
Roaming Oil Blob Since I live near L.A., the spill would cover a big chunk of Southern California almost running into Nevada and Arizona. What are your thoughts on the spill? | What's rather disconcerting are the widows of those who died on that rig saying they will always support offshore drilling. They had video of one of them on the news talking about it.
I just watched it completely astonished and wondered how much BP paid them. A couple days later, they had the brother of one of the workers sobbing over the loss of his brother. I really felt for the guy. |

| As a geek, I totally understand people getting excited about things they're watching on TV, buying a fuckton of merch, and shouting excitedly like mentally-challenged seals when it comes to sports.
It's never "They won!!" It's "WE won!!" You feel like you're a part of something bigger. Sports is a cradle-to-the-grave fandom. Your family's all for one team and rooting for them is part of your lineage. I get it. It's outstanding, guys. Now... I happen to be a Los Angeles native. I do not give a shit if the Lakers win tonight. In fact, if they lose, I might be glad of it. In the past 10 years, whenever the Lakers have won the championship, the fans went APESHIT. They're turned over and burned police cars and so on. Last year, they destroyed many of the businesses within walking distance of the Staples Center. They broke into stores, looted the places, and then poured the booty into the streets to light on fire. They threw trashcans at buses. Fights broke out. Property damage up the fucking wazoo. It cost the city millions to clean up. And the Lakers STILL got a multi-million dollar victory parade. I imagine if the Lakers lose people will still riot. |

| When I was taking Intro to American Pop Culture last semester, it was so amusing being surrounded by all these Lakers fans who made fun of people into science fiction, comics, anime, and other fandoms saying that people got too excited about stuff that "isn't real."
Because, you know, basketball and other sports aren't games that started out as entertainment for kids, or analyzed as being simulated battle.

| Lakers won. As predicted, downtown L.A. is fucked.
Cars on fire, fights, arrests. Some people were just on the news getting thrown to the pavement and handcuffed because they were trying to set T-shirts ablaze. Twelve arrests so far, mostly for public drunkeness. One injured cop (from someone throwing something at him). | FUCK pyramid schemers. A friend put me down on an application as a reference thinking the application was for a job. Instead it was to be a part of some asshole's pyramid and now the guy's been calling late at night trying to offer me a part in his scam with different numbers.
Not mad at the friend at all, and it sucks for her because now her list of references is getting hit with bullshit from this guy. On top of it all, this guy keeps withdrawing money from her account, and for some reason she's not calling the Better Business Bureau on his ass.
Also, let's hear it for another round of FUCK TMJ! If TMJ had balls, I'd be cutting them off and stuffing them down its throat. |
