This DOES sound like a challenge. You can even count me in. I'll do it, though I haven't even completed a battle on this board yet... but whatever, this could be my first! Sign me up.

*smacks his gavel* I'll allow it!

Anyway, I've never heard of Edguy, but this is their new album? I'm guessing its out now. From the looks of Xeo's post, their older stuff is better.

Indeed, my Cairoi.

I wasn't a part of Innocence Gone, but it was indeed a massive RP that clearly had some sort of importance to people. I have noticed that a lot of piddly-crap RP's (no offense to those who made them, but I'm just saying they don't get activity!) have spawned after its end. I haven't tried my hand at creating an RP in a long time, but maybe its time to refurbish my imagination and get it ready for a new, fresh idea, one that will create a lasting RP that many people can enjoy.

Okay, so this is starting to sound like a presidential speech

Anyways. I'm sure I can definetly come up with ideas that are fun and new. I just need help. We all need to help eachother with this, so when more people post, we should create a huge brainstorm - no, a brainhurricane... brainicane

I'm going to be a writer, and I'll be famous, and they'll make movies of my books.

Er, but before that, I'm going to luck out somehow and get a scholorship. For doing nothing. Cause you know what? I'm lucky like that.

Of course, I'll work a bit... a bit... in school. I'm doing better now, and I'm only a sophomore - by the end of this quarter my shit will be entirely together.

Xeo Emblem... how I've waited for a reply...

Mercenary Overthrow... oh, how I've waited for activity.

Guys, I'm gonna be brutally honest here. In order to make a good, long lasting RP, we're going to need three things:

1) Motivation
2) Cooperation
3) Originality... and, uh. A lot more of it.

I see this thread as sort of a calm before the storm; if we keep responding with such negative posts, I fear its gonna turn into an arguement and we're never gonna have any headway into the actual problem. So lets get our heads on completely straight and focus on the problem that is at hand, not things we could have done but never did.

I liked XeoEmblem because the idea of the sprites made it much more interesting. But that was only a gimmick; me and Beo really didn't have much of a story formulated. We spent too much time on sprites and maps, and didn't develop what was actually important. And to top that off, Beo doesn't post much anymore, so we lost one of our needed components. You might as well close it, it's been festering in its own inactivity for too long.

Mercenery Overthrow had a really cool overall idea to it, but it was sort of broad. All the characters had their own agendas, and I think that clashed a bit with the whole idea of an assembled group to overthrow a country. I think the problem was that too many people couldn't cooperate, even though they agreed to do so. Hrm... I mean, it definetly has more potential to continue, and a whole hell a lot more than Xeo Emblem for that matter, but it wouldn't hurt me too much if we dropped it and started anew.

And, this is my opinion so just bear with me, I really don't think RP's based on videogames or movies will be that great. I know Xeo Emblem was, but only loosly. I think that an RP could INVOLVE characters from games or other things, if the person RPing as that character feels that they can't think of a character thats fitting enough. But I'd really try to stray away from things like that. If we're going for a memorable story, I think it'd be a lot more satisfying for the participants to create their own world, characters, and story.

I'll give my own imaginative 2 cents.

We should decide on whether or not we do this:

- In the real world, or a made up one. I have ideas for a made up world, if thats what most people want to go for.
- Future, past, present. I guess it would depend on our choice of setting, as the actual place. Also, this would depend on what our characters are like. If we have a wide variety of characters (from demon, to angel, to human, and beyond), that would also depend on where and when it is.

Lets see what we can think up.

I have to agree with the school-type RP things. Those look totally boring... I've never been in one, but I dunno if I'm even willing to try it out. Usually, I'd try to search with something that has a little more action than my everyday life. Maybe that sort of justifies my reasoning for why I don't really like video game based RPs. I can see how they become good with the added imagination of the writer, but I'd rather just come up with something on my own still.

I liked your idea Cyro, but I could see what you mean by not wanting to post it incase it gets too inactive.

If you don't do it, I have an idea, but... it deals with religion, and I really don't know how that will fly with some people. I like the idea a lot, but it may be a bit um... I guess suggestive is the right word for it. I have no problem with it, but if you gimme the word, I'll tell you about it.

Ah... I'd like to have an RP that has humor, but the thing is that too many other people don't. When I do my posts in my RP's I add a bit of humor, but sometimes too much of a good thing is a bad thing, and I get the feeling people might lose interest if its too comical. But one day we'll all lighten up and do one just for comedy's sake. As for now, though, we should probably stick to more... actiony, dramatic stuff, with just a dash of humor.

I guess I'll post my idea. I have no idea how it will fly with people, it may be good or bad, but its one of the only starts we have so far.

Here goes:

This RP, (which will eventually need a title of course) is set in the not so distant future, but far enough for the occurances that happen within the story to seem plausible. Earth hasn't changed much since the present day we currently reside in. The little things, like architecture, style, communications, entertainment; those haven't changed much at all. It was in the other, more important and defining points in the civilization of humans that has begun to change drastically.

It is the future, but technology isn't all robots and rocketry. Those exist, but do not play an integral role in the actual RP (meaning, if you were expecting the RP to be about giant robo-suits, cybernetic war, hacking supercomputers and "man conquering machine"... sorry, this RP isn't really about that). Instead, humankind has developed a program for the study of discovery-making technology, and the study of the discoveries in which it finds. Man focuses more on reaping knowledge of the universe, instead of ways to create methods for war...

But! It isn't like that for long. With what the humans find with their new technological advances spawns a new age of mankind.

In the cosmos above the Earth, man has found what they call The Creature God. Those who look into the beings massive, slow beating, dying heart see the truth of their planets' people. This being is called "The Creature God" because, it is believed to be, in fact, the very same God as that told in Religious tomes and prophecies.

The Creature God seems to be very real. It doesn't take the exact form of a human, but nobody knows what it really is due to is external decay from its years of being in orbit around the Earth with such a lack of activity. This Creature God, though, isn't the holy being the God of Religion puts himself out to be. Science has proven one thing correct; human life is created not by the magic of God, but by the division and reproduction of cellular and molecular... molecules. God is the being that gave the world Religious order. So was it this being from on high, this Creature God that sent down his word?

The real question is, why would a being do this, play the role of what its specimens below call "God"? To guide a species with holy word, and yet never show its face.

Specimen are exactly what the being called them. The Creature God above is indeed the one that caused the Biblical stories and ideas to be spread, and to actually happen. The Creature God had intense intellectual and physical strengths over the humans. A mere look at this being would cause the humans to grow entirely incapable of making their own thoughts. Its own mind could take easy control over the people. In its true form though, it would annihilate the people who witness it, so it took different form, the form of Prophets. It took no human form, but instead created experiments that involved the humans.

One human child was to be imbued with his intelligence and abilities to sway the masses. One human was greeted by one of the numerous human forms of The Creature God, what humans call Angels. The Creature God could break away parts of itself to create smaller, not-so violently powerful form of itself. These two human Candidates, what he called his son, Jesus, and the other, Muhammad, came to spread the law of God around the world.

But still WHY the hell was the Creature God doing this? BECAUSE! These experiments were to better his own race. Each being in the Creature God's family visited different galaxies to spread their knowledge and influence of order. They viewed the ways in which civilizations grew, and documented them into massive libraries. (this is just coming out of the blue now, so bear with me and tell me if none of this makes sense.) Like the oceans to humans, space is simply a way to travel and find new lands for intergalatic beings.

I'm totally fucking rambling now, so I'm gonna get down to business. The humans find out that God is not what they thought he is. They find that he has been using the human race as lab mice in order to see what they would do.

Thus, religion is abolished from the planet earth, and primal life ensues. After riot and war from the conservative religious people of the world against the scientific and what is known as the "enlightenened" community, the decision to destroy the Creature God is founded. It is then executed.

THIS... *Phew, goddammit, this is taking way too long* *pant... gasp...* Okay, THIS is where the RP and YOU come in!

The Creature God is destroyed through methods of human technology. Unbeknownst to mankind, God was far too close to earth for them to attack. It is shattered in millions, billions of pieces of itself. God rains down upon the earth. Remember how I said that God could incapacitate the human mind with a simple breath of its existance being in the mind's presence? Well, when the Creature God is killed, he is not completely dead. His pieces, his "Angels" fall down from on high. Their presence causes Global Mindloss, a condition that spreads across the world, causing many of earths inhabitants to go completely "insane". NOW WHEN I SAY ANGELS, I DON'T MEAN "HUHUHUH YEA LOL ANGEL'S AND DEMON'S RP K!!" I mean, beings from God... not nessicarily winged men.

This is the apocolypse. What God said was true, so maybe there really was something to him.

You, RPer's, are the Sane. Your character must have a story that somehow explains why they are able to withstand the Influence of God. Some of your characters may know why (technology could explain this). Others importance to the story could be the fact that they are trying to figure out why. They can be anyone - they don't have to be the pope or anything.

As for enemies in the RP, it is the Fragments of God that you fight against. God shattered into millions of grotesque beings that will try to destroy you out of fury for destroying God's body.

What are you in search of? A way to get off the planet, or find shelter from the chaotic, post apocolyptic world. Maybe a way to do that is to... I dunno, ask God?

Remember:
The wrath of God is his appearance upon the world
The mercy of God is his absence.

Hm... Maybe the RP could be called "Wrath and Mercy"... or somehwere along those lines.

I seriously commend you if you read the whole thing. GJ my reader. GJ.

The parts after the... more gruesome descriptions... are kind of funny. I think you wanted it to be like that...?

As for the rest... its sort of troubling to be honest...

But I'm cool with it if you... you know, don't actually make this story into anything real.

Blank Harmony had a different definition of "inner struggle" than many of the strange men and woman he had met since his creation. He was two beings in one, and despite his name, sometimes the Harmony was simply not there. The two would communicate and debate on what to do with an enemy. One always wanted the worst of routes, the other wanted to stray from battle as much as he could. But, in the end, both had to always agree on a simple vow: "Fight, but let live". Fighting kept the negative half of Blank sated, while the mercy appeased the positive. If there was reason for battle, Blank was forced into it in order to keep his body from splitting once again and causing what happened when the two forces were not one.

Harmonious was the sounds and sights of nature in the Plains of Spirit. As for Blank, a deep bloodlust gnawed at the throat beneath his blue scarves that nearly reached the ground. His shoe prints had left angry looking points in the light snow, and his bell-cuffed suit pants had barely gathered snow to his surprise. A suit was not fit for the body, as the cold steel of his Silver Rapier was not good for his hands, even if they were in a thin glove. The most shocking thing that one would find, his breath could be seen, as if it were coming from the mask on his face, whiter than the snow that fell before him. No eyes, no nose, the breath and his black curling hair that fell to his shoulders showed the only form of life for this man had within him.

Blank stopped in an area where few trees grew. The lanterns were freshly lit and burning cheerfully. A person sat on the bench before him but stood when Blank came into a certain range. He had been playing the flute; it was that sound, and the mysterious lights of the field that guided Blank to this place. Before turning to see Blank among the trees, the hooded person, who's voice gave Blank the idea that it was a man he was fighting, mentioned a word or two about knowing one's skill.

Blank's skill was unrefined still; he didn't have the speed or stamina of a god, like many of his past enemies. His movements were lazy and drunken, purposefully. Better to be comfortable and flexible than stiff and always having a certain set up on how to attack. Drunken Fencing, did his last enemy call it? It didn't have name to him. Fighting was fighting, and he did it to survive.

Blank didn't do anything acrobatic to meet his enemy. He only gave him this simple phrase:

"I've came upon an opponent who speaks some sort of sense. You are ready to contend with me; I trust you will stick to your own words and make this a fair fight."

For the PS2. Second Castlevania game to grace the system (I think its the second at least...)

Lament of Innoncence was just passable for fun.

Curse of Darkness is just depressing goddammit...

I'm sorry, so sorry. I love Castlevania, I really do, but they seriously need to stick to side scrollers. Curse of Darkness is so... so boring! It has the air of a horror game, which sort of makes you uncomfortable... but then, nothing happens. There are so little enemies, and whenever you do find one you kill it in one shot before it can do anything. The cutscenes are the cheesiest things I've ever seen. They are so overly dramatic that its hilarious. The graphics are okay, they're not to the perfection anyone would want them to be though, but they're merely passable; I'd give them a C+ if they needed a grade... that gives me an idea...

What I think of Castlevania: Curse of Darkness

Graphics: C+

Gameplay: C- (its easy to play. Its fucking boring. There are mildly confusing aspects. Nuff said.)

Storyline: F- What the hell does it have to do with Castlevania's storyline? NOTHING thats what. Its some guy... who's going after some guy, who has Dracula's powers. The only part that makes it seem like Castlevania is the fact that if you can beat the game, which you probably won't cause you'll get so bored of it so fast, you can play as "Trevor Belmont". I don't know, it looks like somebody needed to capitalize on the Castlevania name. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but it just doesn't cut it so far.

Don't waste your 50$ to try and make your own opinion. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take my word for it and just rent it if you need to see for yourself.

If you've played it, put in your own good word. I really really hated this game, it was incredibly dissapointing, and if you've read the Dawn of Sorrow thread, you know how much I liked previous Castlevania games.
