Since it is possible to intelligently make fun of someone:

Nintendo of America has given a Nintendo DS Lite + Brain Age package to President George W. Bush for his 60th birthday (source: Gizmodo).

The enclosed letter reads:

Originally posted by Nintendo of America

Nintendo of America 4820 150th Ave. NE Redmond, WA 98052 July 6, 2006 President George W. Bush The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington, DC 20500

Dear President Bush:
Happy Birthday!
Don't worry, turning 60 is an exciting milestone. As you know, you've joined millions of other baby boomers in an invigorating new decade of your life. And, like many boomers, you may be looking for ways to keep your mind sharp. That's where we come in.

Please accept our gift of a new Nintendo DS Lite system and a copy of Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day. You now join millions of people around the world who have fun challenging themselves with Brain Age. If you have never played a video game before, don't worry. Brain Age is part of our new Touch Generations brand, which includes games that are easy for people of any age - regardless of their video game experience - to pick up and start playing immediately.

It's obvious you don't have a lot of time to play games, which makes Brain Age such a great activity for you - just a few minutes a day with more than 15 daily training tests will help keep your mind sharp. Training tests include categories like math, reading and memorization. Try it for a few days and watch your score improve. Brain Age also comes with more than 100 sudoku puzzles - these could make your next long flight on Air Force One a bit more fun! (Perhaps copies of Brain Age for journalists joining you on your next flight would be a nice distraction!)
Have fun exploring Brain Age with your Nintendo DS Lite and be sure to let us know your brain age!

Have a tremendous birthday!

Sincerely,

Your Friends at Nintendo

Now, that letter may seem like a giant sales pitch, but I think it makes a lot of referencial implication that our President is not quite so bright. Or, is it just a bold gesture from Nintendo?

It just seems like they basically called the President stupid at 60, and gave him this package to help him be just a little sharper. I find that awesome. Do it without actually accusing him of being dumb.

Yeah... I think they're going for that model sort of advertisement. You know... like celebrities using a product to make it seem better? Well, if Bush really is stupid... then I guess he won't realize that Nintendo called him stupid

Some of you may think they gave him the game because they think he's stupid, but I don't think that is the main reason. You wanna know why? It's because THAT GAME IS FUN. I thought that game was stupid until I actually played it. I lost some 6 hours playing those Sudoku puzzles. I only played it a few times because it was my brothers game. What would be funny if he does tell Nintendo what is Brain Age is and it's something believable like 102 or they'll be stumped when he says 22.

I'm not bad-mouthing the game. Hell I own 2 DS lites and a DS phat. I was concentrating entirely on the motive behind giving President Bush a DS Lite with Brain Age. Not the game itself. I, at least, would feel that by giving him something that promotes expansion of the brain, they are trying to salvage what little bit of it must be left.

I don't think their mocking the president. It looks like they're just giving him a present that has a little thought thrown into it. It explains their reasoning behind why they gave him that game in the letter.

Question on my mind is:

I wonder what Bush thinks

I mean, I wonder if he actually thought Nintendo was making fun of him or something.

I wonder if Bush also plays Command and Conquer
