Does anyone else besides me listen to these groups??? I know that Drizzt does... So no bump for you, hahahah!!

Anyways, they're both founded by Alexi Laiho (who plays lead guitar in both and vocals in CoB) and he is probably the most technically great guitar player in the metal genre, except of course Joe Satriani and Steve Vai.

Go ahead and discuss anything about any of their albums, tours, etc...

Alexi is great.

Even Kai Hansen said it.

I own every albulm of Children of Bodom, I discovered them back when I used to hang out in Mobile Alabama...My friends had great tastes of music then...Now its loaded with Emo Juggalos

If I had my IPod I would tell you all the albulms I have, but at the time I dont know so....Yeah

They almost...and I mean ALMOST remind me of Nightwish mixed with Cradle of Filth...Ah what the hell, it sounds great!

Don't forget the technical godliness of Yngwie Malmsteen!

Alright, maybe I'm being a hypocrit since I actually don't own any of his albums yet, but reading about him, and having heard a few songs from his Rising Force album that my dad showed me (some Yahoo music thing my dad is signed up with), I really liked it a lot, and he really intrigues me since he uses apprezzio's and seems to take on a similar style that Luca Turilli uses.

But yeah, CoB is pretty great. I haven't heard a full album yet, but I have some songs here and there that people have sent me. Can't say I've heard any of Synergy yet, but I'll have to check them out.

And if you guys enjoy CoB, you'd probably also like Ensiferum. Songs can be found in my metal thread.

I always think of those two together, since the vocals are extremely similar.

Sinergy kinda sounds like a neo-Iron Maiden with Kimberly Goss (Alexi's wife) for the vocals, but Iron Maiden never had any really memorable runs like the ones that Laiho throws into every song!

Yeah, I forgot to mention Yngwie - but c'mon, he plays a Fender :'(

If you want to dl some of them, it's SINERGY.... I misspelled it earlier, sry!

Awesome.
(I've never been that big on Iron Maiden really).

So, with tommorow being payday I plan to buy at least one CoB album. Which one would you guys recommend? From what I've seen, people seemed to really love Hatebreeder, and Follow the Reaper. Not sure if I should get Follow the Reaper though since DarkSlaya's sent me a bunch of songs from that one (not saying they're bad, just saying I've already heard a lot of that album so it wouldn't be too new).

But yeah, I guess according to some reviewers CoB changes their sound a bit for every new album, so it would probably help to tell you guys who can recommend me an album (as most of you know), I prefer melodiac / epic stuff usually, so yeah.

I personally like all of their albums, but Hatebreeder is the one that I'm listening to right now. That and Are You Dead Yet?. Kinda depends on what kind of sound you want to hear. The early ones are more like a melodic death metal that can be compared to Cradle of Filth, while the newer ones are more like heavy metal at it's finest, kinda like Metallica with more of a hardcore feel.

So it just kinda depends.

I can't believe I haven't posted this before.

I love Bodom. I've seen them in concert a few times sharing the stage with Iced Earth, Darkane, Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, and Evergray.

Anyway, as you know Bodom did a cover to Britney Spears' "Oops... I Did it Again." Someone synched up the song to Britney's video and here's what came out:

Maybe its me, but I honestly didn't really care for that cover ...

And Iced Earth, yucks. But that's off topic.

You're telling me. I only went because Bodom was opening for them. I went with Junkie (who rarely posts here anymore) and Zoso (who also rarely posts here).

Just when I thought they were done with their set and I was happy to not have to see them any more, they start the theatrics for their 45 minute Civil War epic. OH GOD...

I went to the patio area at the bar to at least sit down, and they just kept playing this elongated, redundant epic that you could still hear and be annoyed with outside. Eventually I just voiced to my companions that the song just sucked and Junkie's retort was that he can understand and appreciate epics. Uh-huh... the song is just annoying.

Yeah, I was more bemused with the fact that Bodom covered a Britney song, but I wasn't as hot about it as I thought I'd be. Hell, Rammstein's "Te Quiero, Puta" is much more audible.
