| CHAPTER ONE
The Loyal Knight Even the most legendary knights and heros must begin their lives as a small child. This is the tale of one such boy, Leon Sagara was no one special in his childhood. Born into a family of poverty, Leon was raised to think that he would have to work for everything in his life, and that was the way the world was. This boy however, found his humor in watching the local knights duel with one another on the fields just outside of his horse stable. The stable's were owned and opperated by the King's legendary Vertana Gaurd. They were the finest men in the kingdom both in horsmenship and warfare, undefeated horseback knights. One day, Leon got the urge to venture out and meet the men he admired so much. Much to his own disdane, the men only ignored the boy, and kept at their training. Depressed and bitter, Leon ran into the forest on the outskirts of the town, and disapeared into the darkness that the woods provided. Asleep in the cold, the boy awoke to the sound of screams and the scent of burning wood. Looking off into the distance, Leon could see a red and orange tint to the sky around the area where his house was. Instantly struck with fear, the boy took off running back toward the house with the speed of the wind itself. However, Leon arrived to late to make a difference, his home had been burned into ashes and were quickly blowing off into the wind. Covered in his own sweat and tears, Leon dropped to his knees, his head burried into his small tender hands, crying tears of sorrow. A sound caught the boy's attention, he turned quickly only to see the butt end of a sword, and felt the pain of it slam into the left side of his head. Leon hit the ground hard, but rose quickly to his feet and began to run once again, the men gave chase and due to Leon's slight head start, did not catch him for several minutes. But, the speed in a small thirteen year old boy and that of a grow man are too different for the chase to have lasted for an extended period of time. The men caught and beat the boy almost to the brink of death, but before the final blow could be cast an arrow peirced the heart of the swordsman who stood over the boy. The knights had arrived to investigate the fire, however fortune smiled on Leon as they found him first. The remaining bandits fled into the night as the knights drew nearer toward them. Leon now only breaths away from oblivion, was lifted into the arms of a man drapped in golden armor with a red sash on his neck, the leader of the mighty Vertana Gaurd, The Crimson Swordsman, Jetta Simon. The gental knight leader carried the boy as if he were just bore into the world, upon his steed, he carried young Leon to the castle, where the chamber maids nursed his wounds.
