I noticed the massive decline in RPing after the titan of Innocence Gone was buried to rest. Multiple RPs have been made to attempt to bring back the fervor that RP had summoned to the forum, but the forum has become rusty with age and inactivity.

Henceforth, I call upon a gathering of all RPers on this board to decide the future of the forum. Maybe through our debate a new messiah of the board can save it or we can discuss bringing back the ancient old tales.

Bring to this council your memories of RPs, the genres and characteristics that intrest you, and what you hope to see in the future.

The power is yours.

Indeed, my Cairoi.

I wasn't a part of Innocence Gone, but it was indeed a massive RP that clearly had some sort of importance to people. I have noticed that a lot of piddly-crap RP's (no offense to those who made them, but I'm just saying they don't get activity!) have spawned after its end. I haven't tried my hand at creating an RP in a long time, but maybe its time to refurbish my imagination and get it ready for a new, fresh idea, one that will create a lasting RP that many people can enjoy.

Okay, so this is starting to sound like a presidential speech

Anyways. I'm sure I can definetly come up with ideas that are fun and new. I just need help. We all need to help eachother with this, so when more people post, we should create a huge brainstorm - no, a brainhurricane... brainicane

I thought my Mercanaries RP would be memorable, but I quickly lost faith in it and ditched it. I could post now, but I'd have so much back work it'd be unbelievable.

Anyhoo, I wanted to get the public opinion on this, but no one sides my buddy J here has bothered to respond. Tis a sad day indeed.

Fate of the RP realm? Did you forget who controls that forum? Lol.

The RP realm is just experiencing the downtime of the board. If you havn't noticed, the board itself has been slow, and thus in effect, the RP realm will be almost dead untill activity arises.

Even if all of you "Choose it's Fate" the forum isn't going anywhere. =P

I was being dramatic, Kaijin...

I know it's downtime, but the RP quality has been a little lacking lately. I was just asking if anyone wanted to brainstorm any ideas for a new RP to bring more activity to the RP forum.

I know you were being dramatic, lol.

It's acctually getting harder to make an RP anymore, since most of the good ideas have been used on past threads.

I always thought international Governement Rebellion group RPs were always fun =P

You guys shoudn't worry about it too much. It's good to see that some people are concerned about it, but the RP forum is something that will always stay in a board like this. People will come around and create something good to get into and the forum will be active a lot once more. So no worries.

Look, what I am trying here is to see what people like in RPs, and maybe as a group come up with a good RP...So, instead of waiting, I thought sharing opinions might give us an idea to work with.

That's all. >.< Jeebus, I am never writing like that again. I just get yelled at!

I'm into alot of the forgotten realms RP stuff, you know? Like elves dwarves things like that, that's the type of setting me and Kaijin are trying to put in our Board.

But after that I dont know whatelse I would like, I would start one on my own but im to busy to be the creator of them and stuff

What's going on with "Xeo Emblem"? 7 replies and it stopped. I've been waiting all this time to make my entrance, but the RP isn't going anywhere? How did everyone simply lose interest that fast. Character sprites were used in it. Those should have given the story an interesting quality to it, not to mention the field maps. So what's up people? Why quit the RP? I know you guys had the time., so I doubt that was much of an issue.

I tried to start something with my Devil May Cry RP but for some reason, it just stopped. It was going pretty well with detailed posts and everything and I had set up all the different paths to Purgatory, Hell, and Heaven. The problem with most RPs on this board is that people tend to lose interest fast. Either that or they simply just stop posting.

I won't mind starting another one...but the problem is...will people be consistent?

Acctually, Sparda, your DMC rp was nice, but the part where "The path leader makes up the paths" kinda made me give up. I wasn't in the mood to make up detailed area's off your RP >.>

If you made another one, you'd have to be the one to make up the area details, or else it'd die again.

(Hell, with the board activity right now, I'd be suprised if any RP stayed up.)

Innocence Gone... is gone. And with it, the fervor of the XGF RP community. For shame. I propose that after christmas, the thrad should be reopened, as it left off at a very odd point, and wasn't finished properly. And, Kaijin, for someone who likes that kind of stuff, you sure turned a cold shoulder to it after a while. I am still adamant about the RP and believe it should continue; after all, the comic based on the series is now well under way, and I just feel as though it would be fitting.

Xeo Emblem... how I've waited for a reply...

Mercenary Overthrow... oh, how I've waited for activity.

Guys, I'm gonna be brutally honest here. In order to make a good, long lasting RP, we're going to need three things:

1) Motivation
2) Cooperation
3) Originality... and, uh. A lot more of it.

I see this thread as sort of a calm before the storm; if we keep responding with such negative posts, I fear its gonna turn into an arguement and we're never gonna have any headway into the actual problem. So lets get our heads on completely straight and focus on the problem that is at hand, not things we could have done but never did.

I liked XeoEmblem because the idea of the sprites made it much more interesting. But that was only a gimmick; me and Beo really didn't have much of a story formulated. We spent too much time on sprites and maps, and didn't develop what was actually important. And to top that off, Beo doesn't post much anymore, so we lost one of our needed components. You might as well close it, it's been festering in its own inactivity for too long.

Mercenery Overthrow had a really cool overall idea to it, but it was sort of broad. All the characters had their own agendas, and I think that clashed a bit with the whole idea of an assembled group to overthrow a country. I think the problem was that too many people couldn't cooperate, even though they agreed to do so. Hrm... I mean, it definetly has more potential to continue, and a whole hell a lot more than Xeo Emblem for that matter, but it wouldn't hurt me too much if we dropped it and started anew.

And, this is my opinion so just bear with me, I really don't think RP's based on videogames or movies will be that great. I know Xeo Emblem was, but only loosly. I think that an RP could INVOLVE characters from games or other things, if the person RPing as that character feels that they can't think of a character thats fitting enough. But I'd really try to stray away from things like that. If we're going for a memorable story, I think it'd be a lot more satisfying for the participants to create their own world, characters, and story.

I'll give my own imaginative 2 cents.

We should decide on whether or not we do this:

- In the real world, or a made up one. I have ideas for a made up world, if thats what most people want to go for.
- Future, past, present. I guess it would depend on our choice of setting, as the actual place. Also, this would depend on what our characters are like. If we have a wide variety of characters (from demon, to angel, to human, and beyond), that would also depend on where and when it is.

Lets see what we can think up.

For the RP vets of XGF, most will remember the "Unusual Beginnings" RP I started which was really a smash hit in the RP Realm. It was pretty much as best as it got during the pre-Innocence Gone period. It just goes to show you that the real world is also not such a bad idea for an RP theme despite the fact that it stressed certain supernatural elements.

The thing I originally hated to see was demons and angels in every single damn RP. Now, it's some kind of rebellion or armed group against this evil corporation/government in every single damn RP. To be absolutely honest, it's getting kind of old. Somebody's got to come up with something new if they're still going to do the whole futuristic rebellion "let's overthrow the government" RP.

Also, RPs based on video games, contrary to what J Literal said, can be quite good. The DMC Rp lasted for a good 7 pages with decent detailed posts. Had the participants not suddenly given up on it, it probably would have spanned three times that. You just need to find a good videogame to base it off of.

And finally, the case is not "let's see what we can come up with". Most RPers can take care of that point just fine. It's a matter of activity. If you can promise me activity, I can promise a hit.

Admit it though, Sparda; Innocence Gone was the best one out there. It blended so many genres, and had a few cult followers (myself included) that weren't even from this board. It was insanely popular. Yes; the whole "rebellion"theme is getting kinda old; people tried to emulate the Innocence Gone vibe, and failed miserably. Now the theme seems to be wars (which I admittedly kicked off). My only wish is for Innocence Gone to be properly finished, like it should've been, and not killed off so ungloriously.

I'm sorry, but that's just scary. It almost seems to me that you're going to commit suicide because that RP was closed. You seriously may want to think it over. It's just an RP. RPs come and go. Killed off so ungloriously? Perhaps every single one of my RPs were killed off ungloriously. At least 60% of them were great if not good RPs that could have gotten somewhere. If you're so desperate for another RP like it, why not just make your own?

Oh, and I refuse to admit anything. =P I took one look at that RP and hated it. ^_~

Huh? Where did suicide come from? I was just a little sad because we didn't get a chance to finish the story; I personally loved the story so much, that my friend and I are working on a webcomic, as I must've stated a million times now.
Also, apparently, the RP must've meant something to the bulk of the RP community, or else it wouldn't have gotten as far as it has.

A little sad? Seems like you were destroyed from my point of view. But regardless, like I said before, if you're desperate for another hit RP, then why not attempt to start your own? You've seen something you like in Innocence Gone. Why not try to absorb it and make it your own work but creating something that's unique yet does justice to its predecessor?
