Sorry about my continuing absence this last weekend. My cast just hosted the 30th Anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show this last weekend to an audience nearly 8,000 at the Hollywood Bowl.

It was literally the largest Time Warp in history!

And I'm spent.

A few pictures of the event can be found here.

Wow, 8,000 people? That is fucking awesome! It must have been such a blast to see that many people there at once!

Oh gods... the meshing of the callback lines. ROFL!

It was pretty interesting during "There's a Light." People were using their cellphones so it was just a bunch different colored lights in different places. Techies described the audience participation at that time to be like fireflies.

Yet more stuff I miss because I have a job. Next time, warn me ahead of time so that I have some kind of money, day off, and method of getting there. I would have loved to have seen that.

Was there a dress code enforced, given the stature of the Hollywood Bowl, or were patrons allowed to dress up as they usually do for the regular shows?

They wanted people to dress relatively nice, but people were showing up dressed as characters and guys were showing up in drag.

This guy showed up at the merch table before the show wearing a a skimpy dress, a pink feather boa and lipstick poorly applied on his face that had a scruffy, five o'clock shadow and he had a nice round gut, and had to be in his late 40s... and his mother was with him.

Man, they had binoculars rental there. I went to the middle of the theater to watch for a bit and do the Time Warp and watch Frank-n-Furter's entrance song and you could barely see what people were doing on the stage.

I guess that's why it's more of a symphony amphitheater, more for listening than watching.
