| Honestly, this thread probably shouldn't have been closed after Tamarin's first comment.

| Well Ginji I agree with you when you say there is still hate among all races. BUT... Vans right when he says that black people display their "hatred" for caucasians. While black rap "artists" may not present it in their music MUCH, you hear a bunch of black people in the entertainment buisness saying cracker or whitie, its pretty much just the same as anyone calling them the N word and yet they persist. But obviously rap music isnt the only type of music that displays a bad image. | |||

However there are many caucasians that use the word the N-word in the most offensive way possible. I was at this party (one of my friend's brother's) and he began playing a couple of country songs. Several of these songs mentioned "hating niggers" and "not trusting a nigger." I seldom hear racist remarks targeted towards caucasians in the black entertainment industry. I'm not going to be naive, because I do know it's there. But there's definately not enough of it to ban all Rap music. |

| Most of the people I meet that have very rough backgrounds and trouble with the law rap. Not that its the rap thats corrupting them but its more of a way of expressing it in my thoughts. The kids dont seem to be doing it to corrupt other kids, but rather to express themselfs. Its because of this that I dont think rap should be banned. | |||

| I will be perfectly honest here, I do not like rap... I hate it for the most part. Eminem is pretty much the only one I will listen to and that is because his songs are actually different, and many of them are just funny. I just get tired of the same damn shit over and over again, and the objectifying of women... and the videos... oh gods they make me sick.
But that is just my opinion. And even though I do not like rap (and or the record I actually used to listen to it back in '96-'98) I would say it is wrong to ban it. I assume it's the moral conservatives trying to get it banned because they don't like it... well tough shit for them. To ban rap, or any other type of music, is the most blatent form of censorship that I can imagine. We don't need this type of censorship. If they got rap, metal would be next... and that is not something I am willing to part with. Saying that rap is causing our youth to be violent is ridiculous. Sure it might be a factor, but it is not the soul cause. Human nature is to be violent. Saying that rap makes them commit crimes is just a pathetic excuse to try and censor it. Like Ginji pointed out, the two boys that commited the Columbine shootings listened to metal music... the public tried to blame Marilyn Manson for it because of his music, since he was hated by the conservatives so much at the time, even though it came out soon after that the boys actually did not like Marilyn Manson's music at all. So yeah, doing this with rap is the same sorta thing... a scapegoat technique that is doomed to fail. |

Well dont you think that people who listen to rap want music that they dont listen to banned? I mean i dont agree with how they talk down on women but some people like listening to that stuff but not all rap says stuff like that.... |
