Eh, I don't really know... ask Cyro... I'm too tired right now to make a real descission... and Xeo's not on, and I think we restricted it to staff members, and there's too many fricken sticky threads here... *curses under my breath walking away*

Well I don't know if I have any jurisdiction in this. But I can vouche for Leon's skill.

Sparda obviously has the skill. But I don't think he'd want to be a trainer, as of now.

Sparda and I, when Sparda was still staff, have already set a non-posted rule of Only Staff may be Trainers, due to the fact that ignorant people will bother us non-stop to be staff. Instead of having to reluctently appeal to the public, we have set this non-posted rule into effect.

This way, people will not yell at us, saying some stupid reason on why they are not Trainers. (Less of a hassel)

I was going to put Leon on the list, but if you want it to be a staff only thing then I'll leave it at that. However, we could make a rule indicating that non-staff trainers are forbidden from asking to become staff. This is, after all, a trainer thread and not a staff resume thread. Besides that, most people who are good sim battlers have been on boards long enough to know they shouldn't be asking in the first place.

I'd volunteer but I don't know if I am worthy enough... of course, to my credit I have beaten both Shaddow and Leon before.

That was round one of the Legends Tournament wasn't it? So long ago it seems! I even managed to go for longer than a page against Sparda, which I was happy about... though I don't remember how long it got... I think it may have made 3. Meh.

Shaddow is correct. If you are staff, you basically have automatic rights as a trainer.

But nowadays, it seems that no one wants to be trained anymore. I haven't seen any trainer requests in the Sim-Arena for a while now.

People generally learn to battle on their own. Having trainers to teach newcomers isn't really all too productive. What we could do is teach people how to battle better. This may take someone with unbiased technique, however. You can't train people in just a certain way.

Well, Cyro, this completely depends on the person and his/her character. I mean, a certain character may wish to strengthen his melee skills because that is all the character is capable of. It wouldn't be hard to train someone inbiasedly (is that even a word? ) but in the end, it depends on the person how he wants to be trained and to what extent. A trainer cannot teach a student everything seeing as how the trainer himself still has too much to learn.

Simbattle also has a lot to do with the wording. I don't really think that having a trainer will improve one's vocabulary. Having a trainer will only shape the trainee into a copy of their trainer. Every Most simbattlers fight differently. So simming advice will differ on the person.

Well, to counter this, I'd say it probably wouldn't be such a bad idea to have multiple people train someone, when someone needs training.

It's fact that everyone has their own style, and technique, so if someone were trained by multiple people they would probably be able to relate best to one of those trainers, and thus could become a better battler from that.

Just a thought I guess.

I agree with Shuyin on the fact that the trainee would probably end up copying the trainer. I made this example before and I'll make it again. It's like Xbox live, especially with DOA: Ultimate. You pick a certain character and pull of a certain move which seems to be very effective at the time and a newbie will always follow your footsteps, picking the same character and using the same move over and over again without fully understanding why he did it in the first place. I know this first hand when I played against my friend in DOA3.
I chose Jann Lee and I whooped his ass using just two moves. In the next round, he chose Jann Lee as his character and just to make it fun, I chose Hitomi. He copied my moves exactly but still got his ass whooped because he had no idea why I used the Lee moves the way I did.

A new simbattler should rely on himself to gain his own unique style but maybe have a trainer help to further develop his technique.
