#BaldforBieber a Hoax

Here's the article

A Twitter hoax suggesting Justin Bieber has cancer taught teenage girls everywhere a valuable lesson this week: You should fact check before you shave your head. Or, maybe itís all just an elaborate story crafted by 4Chan.

Originally posted on Oct. 22, the hoax started with a screenshot of what appears to be a tweet from Entertainment TonightĎs official Twitter account announcing that Bieber was diagnosed with cancer that morning and suggesting fans go #BaldforBieber in support of the pop icon. The photo also shows what looks to be a tweet from Bieberís official account, thanking ET for the support

Shortly after the tweets, a website, BaldforBieber.com, launched showing Photoshopped tweets from the pop star thanking fans for support, as well as a number of fake news stories that seem to confirm the rumor.

A YouTube video on the siteís homepage shows a video of fans supposedly shaving their heads in support of the Biebs, and a gallery of photos on another page shows those who have supposedly shaved their head in support of the pop star.

If you head to YouTube, there are several videos of fanís showing their support, as well as one that supposedly includes leaked emails from Bieberís doctors regarding the cancer, mentioning his chemotherapy.

and a video

You stupid tweens. Verify your crap before you shave your head.

Bahahahahahahaha. This after he vomited on stage, with his "voice" still going (indicating he was lip-synching) and all his fans went, "He's so awesome! He's still singing even though he's throwing up and ran off stage!"

While I loathe the present 4chan, this prank reminds me of the old days of raiding... where nobody was hurt or threatened and everybody got a laugh.

Thousands of people being diagnosed with legitimate cancer: Silence, with the exception of a yearly event. For everyone, not one specific person.

"Beiber has cancer!": People actually go out of their ways and shave their heads, not even knowing they're being tricked. Only care about him.

Gotta love society.

Seriously, the most I'd ever done for a fandom was thinking about getting "the symbol" from Heroes on my right shoulder blade (didn't do it).

The idea of shaving your head in support of a cancer sufferer is noble when it's a friend or family member, but for a celebrity who doesn't know you or care that you did something like this for them -- ESPECIALLY when you didn't check your facts -- it just comes off... well, pathetic.
