-Might- is strongly worded here. Right now it's on the boiling phase.

To start things off, I can't work at Olive Garden for too much longer. I work with a bunch of shitheads and have to deal with the guests in the restaurant business. I deal with so much stress working as a co-manager that I am just getting sick and tired of it. With that said, a business opportunity was raised in front of me:

Yep, driving one of these big ass motherfuckers.

My uncle who drove a truck for over 10 years brought this up to me and also threw out over $400 to take 100 hours of driving experience at a school. Professional driving. Which by law, in order to drive these things require two options:

1- One year of Driving experience with 100 hours of Professional driving school. Must provide certificate during Training.

2- Five years driving experience with no claims by you by insurance companies (Meaning DUI, Accidents caused by you, etc)

Oh hey! Option one looks nice! I almost had my car for about a year and it's almost been a year since I started driving! Sounds good to me!

But there are -minor- problems...

1- I need to stop drinking. Enough said there. I would like to drop this habit anyways. Also the company swabs your cheek once a week to make sure you have had no alcohol intake. which means no alcohol for me unless I am on my days (A full week off) monthly.

2- Training is three months long in ATL GA. Final two weeks training is driving from GA to Cali and back to GA in two weeks period. While having your trainer watching you the whole time.

3- No hearing from me for about five months! A single paycheck is more than enough for purchasing a laptop, which I will be doing. But I have other things I want to purchase before getting a Laptop (Savings bond for kids in the future, Giving my grandmother a substantional amount of money to help repair this house, etc) but I want to take care of my family first before I purchase this. So it's going to be needs first before anything.

now the good thing is that this is going to basically pay for my schooling. Saving up a year's worth of money on this kinda work will last me a good bit for school, living, food, etc. So I plan on making this a career for a good bit. I need to start saving up as much as I can when I take this job.

Like I said earlier it's not quite set in stone yet. But the money is right here in my safe and the moment (Like two weeks before I start training) I go into my driving school I am going to spend it and start 'Learning'.

Honestly, I'm excited. Step-dad was bragging saying that he was gonna give me a CB radio and everything so I can talk with him while I am driving. And he is HUGE into CB radio. Which I was introduced awhile back (Only have a 100w Intenna, can only talk with truckers in ATL).

Sidenote about CB (Which is like a side hobby of mine): Here is a video of my step-dad during major competitions.

Stompin
(White truck is my step-dad. Competitor has antennas lighting on fire. But he still lost)

So yeah, at least I will be able to talk with my family while I am out in California. So yeah!

That sounds pretty cool. Are you going to have your own rig or how is that going to work?

Company funded truck. Meaning I don't chose the color scheme or anything. Thankfully gas is paid for and the trucks even come with a sleeping cab bunk bed. Which for traveling long distance I will need a cabbie with me when I am driving to Cali and back.

Honestly, a lot of people don't like work like that because they are away from their families for too long. But for me? I'm perfect for the job. Sure, I have a lot of Online friends, so during a midnight stop every single stop has internet for truckers to kick back and go online. (That's unless I don't have a cabbie with me). And the pay in increased if I have one because technically I am still on the clock.

And from what I understand having a cabbie with you to deliver 5(stop) packages really isn't that hard. Instead it's boring. Which is why you are free to have CV radio and any kinda music you wish to play (From both sides of course. So I might get a cabbie that likes some rinky dank country or some shit. but I won't mind that).

I'm hoping this passes. I'll be starting driving school next month so I can get a head start on training. As for getting the actual job; that's up for fate to decide I guess.

And is working at Olive Garden beyond stupid customers/employee's technically pretty easy? Reminds me of Jiffy Lube, it was a really easy job but after three years of dealing with pissed off customers (who wants to get their oil changed?) daily and really worthless employee's, yeah it really got to me after awhile.

Sounds like a good plan though man, good luck with everything.

It is an interesting job to work in. But unfortunately you have the manager's fire up your as the entire time and with side dish of angry guests who eat at the resturant just tops it off.

This also does not help that I am a CT (Certified Trainer) and a GM of social Olive Garden services. Meaning I'm top dog of the store.

Another thing that bothers me is the people I also work with. Me, and three other hosts and servers I work with are the only ones there who think outside the box. Everyone else just runs around like chickens with their heads cut off. And who get's in trouble for it? Me.

Not to mention there is going to be a big meeting this weekend and it's not going to be a fun one for everyone involved. So I'm not looking forward to it.

However, if things get too messy. I have enough cash that will last me enough for gas, food, and rent until I start my driving school. So after the meeting I will probably turn in my two week's notice. If the meeting goes well (Which I highly doubt) then I'll stick around awhile longer and save up for a nice laptop so I can continue to chat with all my friends while I will be gone for half a year.
