Keith Olber man comments on the Supreme Court case Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission which was decided a few days ago. The case focused mostly around free speech, then centered around corporate spending.

It appears now that SCOTUS decided that corporations can spend AS MUCH AS THEY WANT in terms of giving to politicians for their campaigns.

Though Olberman's been known to exaggerate and this commentary is somewhat over-the-top, he does paint a pretty dreary future of the world further controlled by corporations. I could see a lot of this happening. Hopefully much of it can be prevented.

... you know, moving to Canada just keeps sounding better and better.

Seriously though, while I don't know if it will get that bad, he does make a very good point: who is going to stop them? This is probably, by far, the dumbest decision I have ever heard come out of the Supreme Court. It's like all the things I made up for my novel are coming true year by year, and I do not like it.

I'm really having my doubts about Roberts' court. This is the same group, under his being a chief justice, that said that the statute of limitations for suing (and winning) in a pay discrimination case is 180 days from the very first pay check, which goes against the previous precedent of 180 from finding out that you're being paid less.

Thankfully in that case Congress immediately pushed legislation which Obama signed last January for fair pay essentially vetoing SCOTUS' decision.

If only there was a vote of no confidence for justices.

EDIT: Fixing a typo.

I hear that Obama has asked Congress to get to work on legislation to block this as well, perhaps even an amendment to nullify it. I just hope it gets though.

But yeah... can we call for the removal of a justice?
