| He ran away from the law. It doesn't matter what the girl thinks in this situation, if he ran away instead of taking responsibility, he did something wrong.
That said though, I believe that jail is more about rehabilitation than punishment, and given how old he is now, I don't think he's going to go causing any more problems. If he's jailed, it'll be to make an example of him. |

| The sentence he received in 1977 was so lenient that it would be impossible for it to stand by today's laws. The girl... well, woman now, is actually asking that the charges be dropped entirely since she has had plenty of time to get over it and doesn't want to deal with it anymore... which I can understand. If the charges are dropped, then he would just be charged with evasion and I don't know how that works.
If he won an Oscar in 2003, why didn't they arrest him then? Did it really take this long to get the international community to work together? |

| When he won an Oscar in 2003 he was still in France, who wouldn't arrest him. So.
I remember watching the documentary about this some time ago, 'twas pretty interesting. I'd certainly like to see him make more movies, so...let him be, I guess. Any punishment now would basically be pointless. |

| Ehh, whatever happens to this guy happens. I agree with some points already made. This woman wants this to be over with. Doesn't want to relive something she had already put behind her.
Was what he did right? No. Should he get away with it? Well...like Elara said...evasion. If anything, get him with that right now. Otherwise, focus on more recent and terrible issues. Governments have let worse things slide. At this point, they're probably after him because they're embarrassed he got away. |
