With the Harris vs Cooley race... it is super close and I am unsure who I would rather have win. Cooley did good, but then again I don't know much about Harris and she seems to be really popular... and I lean to her because she is a dem... but yeah, dunno. |

Heh, you get to move into a swing voting state the politicians will visit more and make more promises to. I think I'd rather live there than the other two, though (Florida and Ohio).

I was using this site, it says semi-official results, but whatever. I just searched for California 2010 election results, and that was one of the first links to pop up. |

Yeah, those are the numbers I've seen from the SF Gate, but I've also been checking the Secretary of State's website, which the media uses as the official count (it actually crashed and was down most of election night so they were mostly guessing, at least down here in L.A. they were).
The race for attorney general has Harris at 45.9% and Cooley at 45.7%. Here's hoping the absentees come through. |

It's ridiculous, but most of the people in California who probably voted on Prop 19, only voted on that specific part of the ballot. None of them really cared about the other issues or what elected officials were better. They ignored the really important parts of voting and just check Yes on Prop 19 and turned in their ballots. I hate newly made adults who only care about not getting fined for lighting up. Ugh! |

Basically, our generation is the one that's going to have to pull the world back up from the ground, and however we do it, it's going to be with responsibility and hard work. If we just succumb to indifference, we're dooming ourselves and generations after us to a truly terrible state of the world.

What gets me is that this doesn't so much come off as people "rejecting" Obama so much as the fact that the people who suddenly rose up and voted in record numbers in 2008 (the YOUNG people) didn't do it this year. Thank you, the rest of you who voted. Like I said, I don't care how you vote, just that you get your voice in that (even if it seems like it's overshadowed by assholes yelling and screaming). I'm sick of the older generation making all the decisions because the blue-haired old ladies who want to extend retiring age, outlaw gay marriage and abortion, deny funds to the poor, hungry and unemployed, chop down every tree and give tax breaks to every corporation and oil company are making it to the polls every election, oxygen tank in tow, and yet the able-bodied, opinionated youth don't care enough to try to save the things they care about by marking a dot on a piece of paper. |
